Collar flap from back of women’s jacket. Front has a top panel of dark brown synthetic fibre, under which is sewn a panel decorated in light pink, yellow, blue, green and red in block-step patterning. Around the panels is an edging of faded pink silk. Back of panel is made of cotton fabric, striped white and blue. The edging shows the original bright pink colour. Panel has been removed from a larger garment and has black thread hanging along the open top edge.

Waist Band3080/32

Band, worn around the waist. A light blue rectangular panel with black stripes and backside hangs from the middle of a long band made of blue and bright pink fabric. Blue portion holds vibrant embroidery in Hmong style, showing squares that each hold a stepped pattern in orange, yellow and white.

Baby Carrier3080/30

Embroidered fabric carrier with ties. Panel is rectangular with cutouts at top corners. Embroidered pattern in Hmong style sits in middle of panel and takes the same outer shape. Its patterning divided into squares, each with similar swirl motifs in colours of red, orange, blue and green, with an outer border of layered applique stripes of green, white, pink and blue. Two long ties attached to the top of the carrier, made up of strips of fabric in blue and purple. These are sewn into a tube, released below the midpoint to create long thick tassels.

Baby Carrier3080/26

Baby carrier. Garment resembles an apron with a long skirt at front, thick waistband, and the remnants of ties for wrapping around the waist. Skirt is made of black cotton, edged with thin red and white stripes, and embroidered at waist with inverted triangles decorated in green, red, and yellow. Across front are two large embroidered diamonds with several small star shapes around them. Waistband is blue fabric with many evenly placed broken threads, indicating beading or other former decoration.

Hat is round with a cross-stitched embroidered brim. Stitches form a geometric pattern and are yellow, green, pink and blue. The upper half of the hat is decorated with thick blue stitching in a large floral pattern. Hat has four pompoms, two small on either side of forehead, one small above front centre and one large on crown. Interior is lined with a dark blue fabric.
