Hand-woven cloth with mirrored traditional patterns on either side of a vertical black band, on a reddish-brown ground. Top and bottom edges have stripes of red, white and black running full horizontal length. Ends have short fringe.
Knife (part a) with an L-shaped wooden handle, incised at top. Between handle and blade is a metal band which is mostly gold coloured, but silver underneath. The blade is shaped: it begins narrow at the handle end, then extends on one side convexly, narrowing again at the tip to a point. The upper edge of the blade runs to a gentle peak at the centre and then sloping down again to the tip. The scabbard (part b) is made of two pieces pegged and lashed together. On both sides is an incised line, painted black, that starts 2.5 cm from the top and runs the length of the scabbard, terminating in a black triangle. There are 4 dark brown braided bands encircling the scabbard, approx. 5.5 cm apart. (A fifth is missing.)
Knife (part a) with long steel blade. Top edge at blade tip is carved out in notched pattern and the blade itself curves slightly lengthwise. Base of bone handle has interwoven wires wrapped around it, upper area has incised designs and tufts of pink, black and off-white hair sticking out of protrusion openings. The wood scabbard is made of two pieces held together with 15 encircling dark brown grass bands. There are also two designs of interwoven light and dark grass forming circular patterns. The wood of the scabbard (part b) has two areas of incised designs and four areas with pink, black and off-white hair tufts. At the back of the scabbard is a thin pod-like sheath attached, which has a woven grass handle and a string attached through a slit. A piece of stiff folded pig skin(?) protrudes from the bottom opening of the scabbard. There is a group of tufts of hair at the bottom of the scabbard. The wood of the scabbard appears to have been stained.
Knife (part a) with pointed, wavy-edged blade. Blade has three incised perpendicular lines near handle end, with a deep notch cut into the top edge of the blade, as far as the second incised line. The blade is set into the handle at a 45 degree angle. The wooden handle widens out into a horn-like handle shape. The blade is secured into the handle with a stainless steel ring. The scabbard (part b) is made of malacca wood which appears to have many lengthwise dark and light stripes throughout. The scabbard 'throat' is made of the same dark wood as the handle. The area where the two woods join appears to have been broken and glued back together.
Working knife (part a) with wooden scabbard (part b). Blade is an elongated wedge shape, that widens toward the end and is covered with a sticky, oily residue. The top end of the blade angles up toward the handle. The handle is thinner near the blade and is covered in a band of interwoven brass wire near the join. The join area of the blade is covered with a hardened black substance. The handle then widens out and has four ridges carved across the end. The wooden scabbard is made of two halves pegged together and has a floral design carved on the upper side near the top. There are four woven bands of grass encircling the scabbard, as well as a twisted double strand of string. The top end of the blade has a stamped mark in the shape of a tiger with two oblong marks beside it.
Long curved sword with decorated brass handle. Blade shows part of a maker's mark near handle and is largely tarnished with an oily residue near the hilt. Brass hilt is cross-shaped with a design all around handle area and a round, hollow, bowl-like sphere with a small metal protrusion at the very top. The scabbard is dark brown wood with 9 silver bands of various widths around it - the widest at the bottom. All silver bands are covered in floral and geometric designs with twisted coil borders. Most are loose fitting and seem to have folded paper or card stuck underneath to tighten them.
Knife with long blade and highly decorated scabbard. The blade has carved designs near tip and near handle. Bone handle has inter-woven wires wound around lower part and incised designs covering upper part. Tufts of pink, dark brown and off-white hair are attached at protrusions of handle. Blade has blackened throughout all non-sharpened areas. Part b is a wooden scabbard with four large areas of inlaid bone carving covering much of front, attached by bent metal pins. The bone carving closest to top has a fang-like protrusion sticking sharply out. Between the carvings are many tufts of red, black and white hair and two beadwork bands. The sides are held together with grass bands. At back is a thin pod-like sheath, attached by a grass band and by the woven handle protruding through an opening in the sheath. Dark brown pitch(?) is rubbed over the edges and undecorated areas of the front of the scabbard.
Bone-handled knife (part a) with long pointed metal blade. Base of bone handle has thick band of inter-woven wires wound around it, top has incised designs. At top and protrusion of handle there are tufts of hair, some dyed red, and longer strands of dark human hair. Blade has darkened to almost black in some areas. Part b is a wooden scabbard with incised designs in upper section, and at bottom. It has 14 dark brown double bands of grass encircling it. There are two woven circular designs made of light and dark coloured grass, among the bands. On the upper part there are 14 rows of light coloured grass wound around and through the wood underneath the incised design. Attached to the back of the scabbard is a thinner scabbard that appears to be made from a seed pod(?) which is lashed onto the scabbard with string and wire. There is a braided grass handle attached at the back of the scabbard, and a tie of cotton printed fabric tied to the handle. The wood of the scabbard has a red stain(?) over most of its surface and there is another longer tuft of hair attached behind the scabbard.
Tightly woven, split-rattan basket. Two woven handles attached to top with a length of un-split rattan(?) which has been threaded through the entire circle of loops at the rim of the basket. Handles are attached at base with another length of un-split rattan(?) and string. Design is in natural and dark brown patterns. From top: natural circles in dark background with dark centres; geometric diamond-shaped design (abstract bird ?) in natural on dark ground; four-petal flower shapes in natural on dark ground; and dark wave(?) pattern on natural ground. Dark bands at top and bottom of design.
Tightly woven, split-rattan basket with vertically alternating rows of black and plain rattan near the rim. Underneath, a snake-like motif in black is outlined by horizontal rows of black above and below. In middle of basket, an inter-connected cane-like motif is depicted in black. The snake-like motif appears again below this. At the bottom of the basket are a series of alternating horizontal rows of black and plain rattan. At the rim is a green synthetic cord which is connected through a pattern of white synthetic fibre coils. The cord runs twice around the rim and then down the outer wall to go through a hole in the centre of the base where the two ends are knotted together.
