Robe3295/29

Long green velvet kaftan with long sleeves. Slits on both sides of the robe, and underneath either sleeve. Embroidered in yellow and olive green thread around neck, down centre opening, over shoulders, around sleeve cuffs, and along the hem of the robe. The robe has loop and button closures running down the centre. The interior edges are lined with an olive green silk(?). Small rectangular tag at neck.

Rug397/3

Large rectangular rug with woven pattern and fringe. The pattern has solid stripes in orange, yellow, green, maroon and purple interspersed with a decorated stripe. The decorated stripes have a diamond motif in either a solid, outlined or concentric design. On the ends is a long braided fringe in gray and cream.

A long rectangular fabric piece that has openings through to both ends. The main design, on one side that is off-white-light yellow-brown, is consisting of an alternating pale blue lobed oval (four of these), and pink circle (three of these) pattern, each of which is bordered by gold-coloured thread with a gold-coloured thread design within (the pale blue lobed ovals have the same design while the pink circles have another one), and separated by a gold-coloured thread floral pattern. Above the central pink circle, there is another pale blue lobed oval with a different gold-coloured thread design within. At either side of this pale blue lobed oval, there is a pair of gold-coloured thread cresent shapes that have an eight-petalled-flower-like shape within. In between this row, and the main pattern of pale blue lobed ovals, and pink circles, there is a row that has an alternating pattern of gold-coloured thread flowers, and another design. The lower portion of the piece is bordered by a gold-coloured thread floral pattern. There are six loops along the top. The other side is dark purple.

Amulet1251/8

Metal amulet (hamsa or khamsa) in shape of an open right hand. The row of four fingers are jointed by a metal cross-piece. Fastened to the middle finger at the top is a metal rivet, loop and ring. The bottom also has a metal rivet and loop. An Intricate design covers the front surface: the palm has a double square/8 pointed star-like design, while the fingers have vine-like designs. The back is undecorated.

A large circular woven basket with a curved rim. Design consists of small rectangular sections around the edges, two pink and two purple with like colours opposite each other. The central design has small alternating squares of purple and pink to form four triangular formations at the centre.

Garment1376/11

Long, gray striped robe with large pointed hood. The robe alternates solid gray stripes with white-brown and light brown-dark brown stripes. The robe is floor length with small openings up the sides. It is made from several woven pieces sewn together. All the seams are masked with dark green stitching. The green stitching forms three button holes on one edge of the hood, without any corresponding buttons. The bottom edge is unfinished. There is black lining around the inside edges of the hood and sleeves.

Qur'an3397/4

Illuminated Qur’an with script written in black and green ink. Covers and spine made of brown leather, with painted designs on the covers. Front cover has a central oval-like shape, with curvilinear attachments on the sides. Back has an oval-like shape, with scalloped sides. Green floral designs inside of oval. Spine is undecorated. Covers lined with white paper. Each page of the Qur’an has lines of script, with red highlights throughout, bordered by stylized, gold leaf frames. Frames have dark blue lines protruding from all sides. Black and dark blue floral and curvilinear motifs decorate the frames. The first two pages of the Qur'an have additional decoration. The stylized frames have an inner white band with floral and dot motifs. Motifs done in white, pink, light blue and dark green. Some pages have large, green dots along the edges.

Qur'an3397/3

Illuminated Qur’an with naksh script written in black ink. Covers and spine made of brown-red leather, with identical floral, geometric and curvilinear motifs stamped both covers. Spine is undecorated. Edges of covers trimmed with two lines, circles in the corners. Raised, inner border, covered in motifs, surround a long oval. Circles in corners of raised portion. Ovals are filled with floral designs and bordered with curvilinear lines. Two bands, made of three plain lines and circles, extend from the top and bottom points of the ovals. They meet with the inner, raised borders. Flap closure attached to back cover, with matching designs along the surface. Spine of flap has stamped circles and lines. Flap and covers lined with white paper. Each page of the Qur’an has lines of script, with gold leaf and red paint highlights throughout, bordered by simple red and dark brown lines. The first and last page are highly decorated. Motifs on first page done in gold and blue, with dark purple, dark green, yellow and white highlights throughout. Designs include curvilinear lines, geometric forms, star-like shapes and flowers. Motifs on last page are done in gold, dark purple and blue. Designs are circular and curvilinear, text is written in red. Some pages of the Qur’an have characters written in red and black along the edges. Pages are numbered in pencil, in the bottom corners.
