Small beaded figure of a horse and rider. Horse stands on four thin legs, with a thick neck and large head. Body is fully covered in blue beads with white hooves, tail and mane, and white patches on neck and stomach. Bridle is orange, and reins and ears are made of leather. Rider sits astride on a beaded blanket, with orange and blue pants, a blue top, white face and hands and a large headdress in green and yellow with black points at top.

Carved wooden figure with halo. A male figure stands with arms crossed in front of his chest as if cold, left knee bent before him. The face is finely carved, with eyes downcast, a thin protruding nose, small mouth in a pointed jaw, and an incised beard. Ears protrude. Hair is in a tonsured style, with a tuft on forehead. He wears a long belted robe with a wide collar that drapes down the back. A tin ring has been nailed to the back of the carving to represent a halo.

Carved wooden figure, likely of St. Francis of Assisi. A male figure stands with hands clasped before him, holding a small bird. Birds also sit on his shoulders and on the top of his head. Nose and ears protrude while eyes, mouth, and beard are incised. He wears a long belted robe decorated with incised diamond shaped motifs. A carved hood falls over his shoulders at back, below an incised hair line. Large bare feet emerge from beneath his robe. Birds and feet are attached to the figure by wooden pegs.

Large, heavy jar. Wide open mouth narrows at neck, then flares in middle before tapering to small flat circular base. Black patterns painted over yellow background, forming rounded squares and triangles. Darts with leaf shaped ovals run around the neck of pot. Base and inside of pot are red clay. Unglazed.

Bowl3071/1

Large low-fired, non-glazed bowl, possibly a bread bowl or serving dish. Mouth is wide, with sides gently curving in toward the small, slightly rounded base. The upper half of the bowl is painted with a repeating feather motif in orange and brown on a white background. The lower half and interior of the bowl are dark orange, stone polished to a shine.

Low-fired, unglazed clay olla. Mouth is wide, with a short neck and widely flaring shoulder. Body inclines toward a small, circular base with a slight punt. Painted decorations in black and orange cover the white underpaint, and the set repeats three times. Included are geometric patterns, solid lines of colour, fine stripes and dots. The bottom quarter of the pot is painted orange with no embellishment, as is the base. The interior is unpainted but for several inches of orange inside the lip.

Very small ceramic owl with grey-white body and black and brown painted decoration. Back and tail have a painted feather pattern. Stomach, back, and area around eyes are brown. Circular eyes are black in the centre surrounded by a ring of yellow and a larger red area outlined in black. Feet (?) and tail protrude from base to stabilize the figure. Artist inscription on base: CY.

Small ceramic owl with orange-white body and dark orange painted feather pattern on body and line pattern on wings and tail. The protruding beak extends to attach below the mouth, forming a loop. The beak and ears are entirely dark orange. There are metallic flecks visible in the dark orange paint. The wings and tail all protrude from the body. Inscription on base: -Zuni- S.K.L. "09."

Large open-mouthed pot. Entire outer surface is painted in black, cream and orange-brown. Painting is divided roughly in four sections. Most imagery is abstract design, but with roadrunner-like birds in the centre panels on two sides; the lower area is solid orange-brown. Pot is round with a small flat base and a round mouth with a short lip. Inside is red-brown.

Owl Figure2731/32

Miniature hand coiled pale yellow clay pottery owl. Details are very finely hand painted in black and orange. Base has thick circular outline. Stylized overlapping feathers decorate the lower section of the long body. Chest and head area is spotted with short brush strokes. Wings and tail are striped on both sides. A thick line drawn beneath large staring eyes with multiple lashes extends to a large dot at the back of the head. Black dot visible on one ear tip and small loop beak has painted nostrils.
