Small mask with fine features and articulated jaw. Hair is in the form of a black crest. Two cone-shaped protrusions rise on either side of the crest; those in front are red, those in back are black. A long, raised scarification mark on the centre forehead ends between thin black eyebrows. Eyes are narrow slits. Small rounded ears are separated from eyes by two black raised disks with raised horizontal rectangles in between. Lips are painted black. Jaw is joined to upper section with bark(?) threaded through holes behind eyes and the top of the jaw. Perforations are made in hair crest, black cones and behind ears. Mask is patinated.

Maiden Spirit MaskAf337

Mmwo helmet mask. Carved from a single piece of wood, the mask depicts a female face with a large ornate coiffure. A circular crescent, around a concentric circular plaque, rests on top of the head. Portions of the crest and parts of the hair are painted purple, also inside the nostrils. Black scarification marks spiral on the cheeks and are crosshatched on the forehead and the temples. Four loops of scarification drop from black painted lips. Eyes are small and narrow. Eyebrows have curly black hair glued on. A neckpiece of yellow, red, black, and white felt with purple and natural cotton is attached to the back by metal hooks.

Standing wood male figure (ibeji) on a rounded base. Face is more rounded, and triangle-shaped lower eye lashes. Conical cap with two sets of vertical ridges on each side with four ridges in the front and six in the back. Heavily encrusted with red earth.

Standing wood figure (ibeji) with black, disc-shaped, beaded waistband (discs of horn?). Head is capped with a conical headdress. Cap is decorated with two sets of vertical ridges and the back with four. Nine scarification marks radiate from and point downward from the navel. Extended arms have hands touching thighs. Has very short legs in relation to body and the feet are extremely large. Stands on circular pedestal. Body and base is heavily encrusted with red earth, and cap has traces of indigo. Has worn camwood patina.

Three vertical scarification marks on cheeks, and chin, and four horizontal ones on the cheeks. Arms are extended with hands touching thighs. A black glass bead bracelet hangs from the figure's left wrist. Backbone is indicated by deep incised line in centre of back. Has short legs and large feet. Stands on a plain circular pedestal. Grooves on figure are filled with red earth and in hair are traces of indigo.

Ikenga statute in three sections on an oval pedestal with four angled protuberance rising above. On these, theree rests an elongated face forming the second section. Scarification marks are incised from corners of the mouth, and the cheeks. Back of head has five lines carved from the top of the head to the base, joining at that point. Third section is an elaborate headdress with large horns that curve away from the head. Flaring outwards slightly. Outside of horns are incised with three sets of wavy lines. Three knobs face forward and backward at the base of the headdress.Traces of indigo and ochre overall. A twisted fibre cord is tied around horns, with a loop at end. Has a circular base.

Standing wood female figure (ibeji) on oval base. Figure has a long trunk and arms on short stocky legs. Arms are at the sides. Has protruding stomach, breasts, and buttocks. Large head with facial features in relief of large protruding eyes having incised eyelids and eight incised notches on each cheek with three at the forehead. Tall pointed four-sided headdress with knob at top is patterned with incised lines. Recesses filled with indigo dye. Large pierced ears placed far back on the head. Earring of strung horn beads and one jasper. Arm on the right has brass bracelet with spiral incising. Two strings of dark horn beads at waist. Necklace of elongated blue beads with one red jasper bead. Incising at back of head, spine, and stomach. Carved wood piece with dark brown patina and red camwood in areas.

Mask sepicting a male face with a raised band across the forehead, stylized ears, and eyes with crescent-shaped holes underneath each. Two holes each on both sides of face are threaded with stem (?). Painted black overall with traces of off-white on the lower portion of each eye and in two vertical bands under the nostrils.

Has genitalia, protruding stomach, nipples, and buttocks. Blue lapis lazuli(?) beads on cotton string around neck. Carved facial features in relief of large closed ovoid eyes and eight incised notches on each cheek. Wearing pointed headdress with crest front to back and patterning of incised lines; headdress is coloured with indigo pigment. Carved wood piece with dark brown patina.
