Mask2655/29

Large bear helmet. The ears are carved in relief and are wide at the bottom, tapering to a sharp point at the top. The eyes are wide-set, and are carved in relief. The snout protrudes straight out from between the eyes to a slightly defined nose-tip. The mouth is open wide and has a top and bottom row of teeth carved in relief. The bottom row of teeth on the left side has one protruding fang, while on the right side there is a small hole, possibly indicated a missing fang. Fibre rope is attached to the sides of the mask above the ears and attaches around the back of the head.

A yellow-orange tiger mask with black spots and cut out eyes. The open cut out mouth has six teeth and four fangs. There are two holes at either side of the mask behind the ears.

Carnival mask with a white forehead that has a black triangular pattern on the top with black eyebrows and eyelashes that have a hole made underneath each. The rest of the face is black with a protruding red mouth. The bulging black eyes are outlined with red. The sides of the face are carved in a zigzag pattern, making high pointed cheek bones and a protruding chin. There are two holes at either sides of the mask along the eye-line.

Jaguar face mask. Mouth is open with two rows of teeth and tongue visible. Mask is very deep with mouth on bottom side and nose and eyes the furthest forward; top of head is almost flat; ears protrude slightly and are hollowed out. Fur design painted in black and yellow; eyes are in red with yellow irises and black pupils; lips and nose are brown; tongue is red.

Square-shaped mask with large hand obscuring face. Cut-out eye socket located between the hand's thumb and index finger. The hand is carved in relief and at its centre, has a number "5" carved on its surface. On each of the finger's knuckles is a carved swirl design. The piece has faded white paint(?) or accretions at left side, near the bottom and on the back of the mask.

Square-shaped mask with large hand obscuring face. Cut-out eye sockets located between the hand's thumb and index finger and between the pinky finger and ring finger. The hand is carved in relief and at its centre, has a number "2" carved on it's surface. Below the thumb is a smaller human face carved in relief that has defined eyebrow ridges, a large triangle-shaped nose, a wide closed mouth and a tapered chin. The piece has white paint(?) or accretions over its surface which is more predominant on lower end of the mask and on the underside of the mask.

Tiger mask. Face is yellow with black stripes and white painted whiskers. The eyes are red and yellow, the nose is grey, and the ears are laid-back. There are six top front teeth, four fangs, four molars and a pink tongue.
