Imari Bowl529/11

Bowl with rounded sides, scalloped edge, and raised foot ring; sides are scalloped with concavities on interior. Each scallop is decorated with a distinct pattern that is the same on both interior and exterior; the patterns appear between three and nine times on bowl. Three blue-outlined red areas with central floral decorations interrupt patterns on both interior and exterior; centre of interior has a scroll decoration on white ground.

Dark blue summer kimono made of fabric with a resist dyed white checkered pattern. Kimono assembled with hand-stitching throughout. The pattern consists of alternating vertical and horizontal, white-gray lines in small squares. There is a wide patterned band around the neck and partway down the centre opening. The short sleeves have an opening under the arms. The inside is unlined.

Black summer kimono (着物) made of hand woven kasuri (絣) or ikat textile made from ramie fibre. Cotton fabric interfacing on the shoulder area woven in plain weave. Kimono assembled with hand-stitching throughout. The pattern is linear squares and circles arranged in a checkered design. There is a wide patterned band around the neck and partway down the centre opening. The sleeve panels are short with an opening under the arm. The inside is unlined.
