Narrow wood crutch with dark stain. Running down each side is a similar grouping of carvings that starts at the top with a narrow mask with ears, long nose, mouth (one with tongue stuck out), and necklace that turns into the tail of an alligator that faces down to an iguana that is facing upwards. A strip of grass is tied to the tail of one of the alligators.

Smoke Pot2716/3

Bulbous dark brown clay smoke pot with rounded bottom narrowing neck and mouth with flared lip. Two faces with protruding pointed noses and raised eyes and mouth have been carved on opposite shoulders, with swirling carved decoration in between. Numerous holes have been cut into the lower portion and a handle of wound grass loops up from large holes at the neck.

Circular, brown with streaks of black wood story board. Depicted in 3 dimensional relief, which is carved deeply into the wood in a wheel-like lay-out with hub and surrounding frieze, is the story of head eating birds and a village's attempt to fight them with dogs, clubs and spears. A decorative border of ovals and lines encircles the top of the board; sides and back are plain.

Part (a) is a long tear drop shaped plywood with three dimensional carved wood head attached centre front. Face has eyes outlined in red seeds, hook nose with open nostrils and long feather and fibre rope through wide indented mouth. Back board and head painted with geometric designs in brown, gold, white and black. White feathers double fringe attach to perimeter with twisted fibre band. Secondary face on board has wide smiling mouth. Attached black and white feather, red seed medallion top piece, back has support material of hat and ridge in wood. Four flat wood leaf shapes (b-e) with black and white zigzag markings, cut white feather surrounds them, attached at an angle to a stick bound with fibre and white feather down.

Tapa Cloth1448/9

The cloth is rectangular and natural coloured with stripes of red and blue-gray. The blue-gray stripes are wide with diagonal rows of diamonds left natural coloured and painted red. The blue-gray stripes are flanked by thin red ones. The natural coloured spaces in between the stripes are decorated with borders of small blue-gray lines.

The tip is coiled with yellow-brown plant fibre, below which, there are the following: five sets of four small barbs; three sets of four increasingly longer barbs; and three sets of four small barbs. The point is decorated with a red and yellow grass sleeve with a horizontal zig zag pattern, a carved band that is emphasized with white and that consists of two figures (each of which has circular eyes and a double upward pointed nose), and a fibre tuft. Below, there is another red and yellow grass sleeve that has a pattern of red triangles on a yellow background. Bright red and yellow plant fibre coiling are at either ends of the grass sleeve. The red-brown wood shaft is plain.

The point is decorated with a red and yellow grass sleeve with a thin horizontal zig zag pattern, a carved band that is emphasized with white and that consists of two figures (each of which has circular eyes, a nose, and a smiling mouth), and a wood ball that is painted red except around the middle where there is a plain horizontal band. Below, there is another red and yellow grass sleeve that has a similar pattern as the one above but with a wider design. Bright red and yellow plant fibre coiling are at either ends of the grass sleeve. The red-brown wood shaft is plain.
