Painted gourd dish. Dish is light with a very thin wall, shallow, and of an oblong shape. From a rounded bottom the dish flares widely toward the rim. Vessel is painted a shiny black on both interior and exterior, with an incised decoration in a wide strip around the rim. Pattern is sets of concentric circles, cut in half, lining the top and bottom of the strip on its interior, with diagonal lines cutting through to their midpoints. The decoration is unpainted, and left a raw light brown.

Latex (balata) figure of an Amazonian pink river dolphin. Figure is made of dyed latex rubber, hand molded. Dolphin balances on its front flippers and tail, which curves to its left. Dorsal fin sits high on the back, behind a blow hole. Dolphin’s head is rounded, with a long narrow snout containing an incised line representing the mouth. Black eyes are inset behind the snout. Figure is dark pink in colour.

Latex (balata) figure of a turtle. Figure is made of dyed latex rubber, hand molded. Turtle stands on four narrow legs, rounded head emerging from the front. Eyes are inset balls, black in colour and surrounded by finely incised circles, above incised nostrils and mouth. The shell is covered with a regular, incised pattern of scutes. The underside of the figure is concave, with little detail. Turtle is coloured dark brown, with a yellow dot inside each scute, and red markings on its head and legs.

Short, deeply incised lines across the figure’s back indicate skin texture. Tail holds lines more lightly incised and farther apart. Prominent ridges on the top of the head sit just above inset black eyes. The snout holds deeply incised nostrils. The figure is coloured green, and the fish is a light brown.

Incised lines across the figure’s surface indicate skin texture. Prominent ridges on the top of the head sit just above the inset black eyes. The figure is coloured brown with patches of black on its face, shoulder, tail and stomach.

Head is diamond shaped, with incised mouth and nostrils and inset dark grey eyes. Snake is coloured in stripes of grey-brown and white, with two short stripes of red, mid-body on the underside.

Latex (balata) figure of an arapaima fish. Figure is made of dyed latex rubber, hand molded. Fish is long with a relatively thin body, narrowing toward the caudal fin. Tail curves to the left. Dorsal and anal fins follow the line of the tail from midpoint of body, and they and the caudal fin are painted in stripes of red and brown. Small pectoral and pelvic fins are held slightly away from the sides, with the left pectoral curving slightly upwards. The body is densely covered in incised loop markings to indicate scales. The head is square and blunt with incised gills, as well as mouth and nostrils, between inset black eyes.
