Doll3097/69

Knitted doll in a brightly coloured dress. The dress is hot pink with yellow, purple, red, and green details, orange sleeves, and a red belt. Yellow and blue yarn strands are looped through the neckline of the dress. Red and green cords of yarn are loosely attached to the top of the neckline. The green cord extends from the back side of the doll as a long strap. The doll has a yellow hat, pink shoes, and blue-black hair in two braids. Two smaller humanoid figures are attached to the doll's dress, below the belt. The figure on the doll's right side is wearing a red shirt, brown pants with a single pink stitch, and an orange hat with blue stitches. The figure on the doll's left side is wearing a green shirt, a pink skirt with green details, and a yellow hat with blue stitches.

Loom3097/20

Small loom with bars made of two thin wooden sticks with a small woven textile attached between them. The top bar is made of a slightly thicker stick with a dark brown exterior and a light brown core, with the bark removed and rounded ends. The bottom bar is made of a thinner light brown stick with the bark removed and rounded ends. The textile is made with brown and light beige fibres, with rows of thin horizontal stripes at the top and bottom. The textile is connected to the bars of the loom with light beige string wrapped several times around each end and loosely wrapped across the bar. There are 4 stripes at the top and 7 at the bottom. The top half of the weaving is tightly woven in a complex pattern of wide bands, separated by thin stripes, made up of slanted columns patterned with triangular steps, wave motifs, circles, and zigzags. Two of the slanted columns in the second row contain bird(?) motifs, and the central slanted column in the bottom row contains a zoomorphic figure which appears to have a curled tail and paws. The bottom half of the textile is made up of loose, unwoven strands of brown and light beige fibres, which are woven into the bottom thin horizontal striped panel and connected to the bottom of the loom.

Fragment: Veil3097/22

Rectangular fragment of an off-white lace veil. The lace is woven in a very large diamond pattern, with the outlines of the diamonds creating a large X shape in the middle of the fragment. The bottom and left edges of the lace are the original edges of the veil, the top and right edges appear to have been cut. The weave of the lace is more dense towards the original edges.

Bird Figure3592/6

Small pyro-engraved bird figure. The bird's head and body is made from a single gourd, with the stem as the neck and head. A beak is attached to the face and coloured yellow. The bird stands on two tall, thin legs, which are mounted on a convex base made from the bottom of a gourd. The bird's feet are engraved into the gourd. Another piece of gourd is attached to the back of the bird as tail feathers. The side of the base has "MAX INGA A, La Encantada, Chulucanas, Piura, Peru 27-4-80" carved into it.

Small hollowed-out gourd with floral design around the outside surface. A panel of large flowers, with circular swirls, and leaves wraps around the body. A single uneven line divides it from the undecorated base.

Woman's hat consisting of a cloth cap and wide plant fibre brim, covered in fabric. Top of hat is black, base is red; green trim along edge. Linear and triangle motifs across top; primarily done in white with red, yellow, green and blue-grey highlights throughout. Triangle-shaped fringe is attached to the hat brim and around the white motifs on top. Long chin strap, with concentric diamond designs woven along it, stitched to bottom.

Short, red-purple woman's jacket with front opening and two pockets. Cuffs are bordered with black bands and green trim; green trim along edges of front opening. Black cloth stitched to sides of front opening, on elbows and top edge of pockets; imitating lapels, elbow patches and pocket flaps respectively. Curvilinear and geometric motifs embroidered around opening and on all black fabric; white button decorations throughout embroidery.

Applique textile (arpillera) depicting people in a market scene. Figures and merchandise are three-dimensional and stitched to the larger white cloth. Foreground of cloth is white-brown; middle ground is light green, orange, white and patterned; background is light blue-purple. Entire edge of cloth is trimmed with braided blue yarn. Brown and grey mountains in background, with sun rising in between them. White and blue striped house, with an orange roof, in middle ground towards left side, large tree towards right side. Green embroidery, imitating grass, across the middle. Figures are attached to the middle and foreground. All are white-pink and have black hair. They are wearing various outfits, including skirts, pants, brimmed hats, and short sleeved shirts. Some shirts and skirts have geometric designs, but most are unadorned. The vendors are all kneeling in the foreground with woven plant fibre baskets, full of produce, in front of them. Other people, carrying baskets or cloth bags, walk throughout. The word “Mercado” is embroidered in the top left corner. Textile is adhered to a foam board.

Necklace of small light grey and light brown seeds on string with a woven lower section with dangling ornaments - each composed of a white seed, large black seed, and then a tiny brightly coloured feather. The large seed at centre is bright red and black, and lacks the feather.
