Belt3486/131

Woven belt (chumpi) finished at one end with loop-manipulated braids. The central band has a repeating serated diamond pattern in red, dark green, and yellow. The central band is flanked by geometric diamond, triangular, dotted, hooked and animal motifs including birds and llamas in white against a pink, red, and purple background. Purple and daek blue triangles with orange accents, and a dark blue and white checkerboard pattern form the top and bottom borders.

Woven band (watana) with añu (flower of the tropaelum uberosun plant) tika (flower) design, and a braided loop on one end. The horizontal centre of the band has a repeating pattern of white triangles pointed away from the loop end, decorated with dark green highlights, against a red background. A pink and red border spans the top and bottom edges of the band. A small braided segment of yellow yarn is attached to the braided loop, and an additional piece is used in the knot on the opposite end.

Band3486/90

Unfinished woven band (jakima). A short segment of the band is woven into a tanka (branching) ch’uro (snail) design with alternating light brown diamond shapes and burgundy ‘x’ shapes within a dark brown border. The remainder of the band is unfinished with yarn in dark brown, light brown, and burgundy coiling around each other. A piece of brown yarn that served as the weft is separated from the unfinished section of the band and gathered in a small bundle. A piece of ombre yarn in pastel blue, white, and pastel pink is strung through the woven end. Pieces of yarn in red and yellowish green are tied around the unwoven section.

A repeating pattern of interlocking white hook shapes against a red background in an aysa (linked) q’eswa (rope pattern) motif is the central design on the band, ending with a short section of vertical stripes on the loop end and a triangle motif on the other end. The design is contained in a thin green, dark red, and black-ish brown border along the top and bottom edges.

Woven band (jakima) finished on one end with three braids. Geometric shapes in alternating hot pink and blue form the main design of the band, with a section of parallelograms in a wactapunacac (rib-to-rib) ch’uro (snail) motif on one half, and a section of triangles arranged in a puntas (points) motif on the other half. The design is surrounded with a thin line of lilac and a thick green border along the top and bottom edges.

Woven belt (chumpi) in synthetic fibre finished on one end with braids sewn together with a thin braided tie on each end. The crinkled appearance is achieved through twisting the yarn during manufacturing. The design is split into two main horizontal bands with a mirrored geometric motif of triangles and a small segment of squares on the right end. The top band is yellow and blue, and the bottom band is green and magenta. The top and bottom edges are finished with a thin border in shades of red. A thin red and grey tie is attached to the braided end, and a green tie is attached to the other end of the belt.

Woven belt (chumpi) in wool and camelid fibre, finished at one end with loop-manipulated braids sewn together. The design of the belt is split into two wide horizontal bands, separated by a thinner band with alternating dark red and dark green rectangles decorated with light yellow ‘x’ shapes and diamonds. The two thick bands have a brownish black background with three horizontal stripes in bright pink, lavender, and orange across the centre. The thick bands feature off-white patterns and geometric motifs including diamonds, triangles, ‘x’ shapes, circles, swirls, and figures including humans, quadrupeds, and various birds. The top and bottom edges have a border with a row of dark red and dark green triangles, a row of alternating light grey diamonds and off-white ‘x’ shapes, and a thin stripe of dark blue along the very edge.

Band3486/103

Synthetic woven band (watana) with beads along the sides and fringe ends. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, pink, purple, and beige strands are woven together into the triangular and diamond geometric motif of the band. The beaded border is predominantly opaque white seed beads, with paired red beads appearing near one end of the band and near the centre, and two sections of multicoloured beads. The smaller segment of multicoloured beads is near the centre of the band on the top edge in blue, green, transparent yellow, and transparent blue. The larger segment of multicoloured beads at the end of the band with dark blue, yellow, green, orange, and red beads on both edges.
