Beads2990/754

35 miscellaneous shell beads (currently strung on fishing line). Two square and two circular beads made of spondylus, one is long and has flattened sides with an opening in the middle, another is brown and square, the rest are purple, light brown, white and light grey circular beads. Well preserved.

Spatula pommel, made of animal bone. Lizard sculpture with rhomboid eyes is holding hair of trophy head in its mouth, hands and feet. One suspension hole in lower feet, one between eyes; two horizontal and two vertical holes in base. Broken and repaired.

Shawl3142/2

Brown woolen shawl. Textile is long and relatively thin, made in a fine weave and dyed a medium brown. Centre panel is undecorated. At each end are decorative panels in a loose weave that narrow away from centre, ending in a sparse fringe. A handwritten label is attached at back centre.

Spear3060/10 a-b

Long double headed spear. Shaft (part a) is made from a light grass material, maintaining diameter until its proximal end, where it narrows to join with the spear neck. Strands of fibre are wound tightly many times around the connection, as well as at the shaft’s distal end. The spear neck (together with heads constitute part b) is made up of two long pieces of dark brown wood, lashed together near their base, then separating. An iron head tops each shaft. Heads are thin, rusted, and have a single large barb pointing down and to the outside.

Decorated Gourd2918/2 a-b

Small container with lid, made out of a hollowed gourd. The gourd (part a) is decorated with elaborate carvings of harvest scenes, musicians playing outside a building, fruit picking in an orchard, women talking. Two panels showing a stylized frog divide the scenes. The base of the gourd is decorated with carved geometric designs. The lid (part b) is cut out of the gourd and is convex, bulging in the centre where a stem would be. It is decorated as a stylized flower.

Small container with lid, made out of a hollowed gourd. The gourd (part a) is decorated with elaborate carvings of musicians and dancing, and travellers with donkies. Trees, birds, flowers and huts appear in the background. Six small panels, three on each side, show small animal creatures with arms out-stretched. The base and lid of the gourd are decorated with matching carved geometric designs. The lid (part b) is cut out of the gourd and is convex, rounding toward the centre where a stem would be.

Hemispherical bowl with negative decoration and burnished surface. Two red-brown crossed bands with dots on the inner surface and vertical line decorations on outer side and inner rim. Four ancient repair holes near rim and two in base. Broken and partially restored.
