Jug2862/28

Jug used for pouring chicha. Bulbous body has a circular foot and a long sloping shoulder, with a neck that is sculpted into the torso of a human-like figure. Thin legs protrude, bending at the knees, and feet rest on the shoulder of the jug. Arms protrude from wide shoulders and hands meet at centre of chest, where they hold an ornament made of leaves and round medallions or flowers. The tip of the centre leaf reaches to the figure’s mouth. Around the figures neck is a scarf, broken off on the right side, probably during construction. The remaining end of the scarf is decorated with incised lines. The face is somewhat worn, and topped with a wide headdress that has flaps hanging down over the ear area. The top of the figure’s head is hollow and serves as the jug’s lip. A handle is connected to the jug at its shoulder and figure’s middle back.
