Headdress2777/1

Colourful headdress with a turtle on mulberry fibre, wrapped around the front of a corrugated cardboard and plastic head ring covered with white fabric and decorative elements. A long blonde hair wig and pink feathers are stitched on to a frame at the back. Around and above the nose of the turtle are bands of green and red metal beads and brown shells, from the top of which project five black fabric-covered wood sticks with white shells and ivory coloured polished coconut shell rings adhered to their lengths.

Small rectangle of tapa cloth with smaller rectangular design on one side painted brown, pale red, and black. Central floral motif with four large brown petals and four smaller black ones is set within a large diamond, with identical opposing sides, which is itself set within a circle filled with short black horizontal lines. On either side, a half circle filled with similar motifs is separated two vertical brown leaves.

Small rectangle of tapa cloth with smaller rectangular design on one side painted brown, pale red, and black. Two large floral motifs with four black petals and four brown leaves, set within circles of concentric brown rings, are separated by two large oblong petals with teeth-like design; half of a similar design are at either end.

Tapa ClothC1505

The cloth is square and natural in colour with a triangle fringe. There is a double diagonal line extending from each corner and ending in a small centre diamond surrounded by four small diamonds in the centre of the cloth. Along one edge there are four 'v's with a dot in the centre. Along another edge there is '22' and 's oooi'. The triangle fringe covers all four sides with the triangles from two of the sides painted brown.

Mat566/2

The mat is rectangular and natural coloured with two fringes. The mat is woven and the weave is curved. There is a strip of red fabric sewn to one edge of the mat. Attached to the fabric are purple feathers. A long fringe extends past the fabric and feathers. On the opposite edge there is a shorter, squarer fringe.

Tapa Cloth1188/68

The cloth is square and natural coloured with designs painted in brown and black. There are twelve square blocks, three rows of four, with a circular design in the natural colour and brown. In each square the design shows four ovals pointing into the centre surrounded by a broken circle of triangles and framed by lines in each of the four corners. The same design differs from panel to panel in which aspects of the design are highlighted with black and dark brown paint. The cloth is made from three pieces attached together.

The cloth is rectangular with designs covering the entire surface in dark red-brown, brown and black on a natural off-white background. There are ten rectangular panels with a diamond-shaped design in the natural colour and brown. The design differs from panel to panel in which aspects of the design are highlighted with black and dark brown dye. The backside also has the same diamond-shaped design painted in a lighter brown on the natural coloured cloth.

Skirt1060/84

The skirt is made of brown grasses with painted palm leaves. The grass is woven into a thick fibre band along the top of the skirt. Also woven into the band are palm leaves decoratively cut and painted red, orange and brown.

Tapa Cloth1041/1

The cloth is square and natural coloured with a black and red geometric design. In the centre of the cloth is a black square inside of a larger red circle. Inside the square is a web-like pattern of black and white lines. In the very centre of the square are eight triangles, alternating red and white, with points together. On the outside of the large red circle is a black outlined border of three triangles inside one another. There is a black border around outside of the cloth with red triangles pointing inwards. The cloth is painted on one side.
