Face Cover3655/2

Rectangular fabric face covering, with coins and beadwork across surface. Covering has a plain dark brown-red centre, bordered by strips of metal beadwork, and adorned with opalescent buttons stitched with pink thread. Two eye holes cut out above rectangle; fabric ridge sewn down middle of covering, imitating a nose. Ridge has coins attached along the top edge, and plastic beads and buttons along the sides. The largest coin is a worn Victoria Empress - One Rupee India 1901. Three long tassels are attached to the top corner of both sides, and three short tassels hang from the bottom edge. The tassels alternate between sections of metal beading, wrapped metal fibres, and red, orange or green tassels. There are three straps attached to the back.

Face Cover3655/1

Rectangular, pale orange-red fabric face covering with beadwork and embroidery. The cut out eye hole is divided by two wrapped fibre strings down the centre. The edge of the eye hole is decorated with chain stitch and metal beadwork. The cover has chain stitch embroidery and beadwork in concentric lines, leaving the middle plain. A fabric ridge is sewn down middle of covering, imitating a nose. Ridge has white beads along the crease on each side, and is more heavily beaded on the lower half. Unlined.

Bracelet3553/3

Hollow, circular silver bracelet with back centre opening. Exterior of bracelet is decorated with incised patterns, and raised carvings; interior is undecorated. Band is circular and gradually widens to an oval-shape in centre. Sides have five patterned bands along their lengths. Bands closest to open ends are filled with alternating triangles and dots; other bands are filled with connected diamonds. Centre of bracelet has a raised rectangle with three rows of diamonds through the middle; diamonds alternate between plain, and decorated with dots. Three circles protrude out of rectangle, at sides and in centre; circles are decorated with dots in concentric patterns. Dots and zigzags incised along top and bottom sides of centre section of bracelet. Ends of bracelet are circular and have holes cut out in their centres.

Covering has a plain red centre and is bordered by alternating white cotton braids and silver beads; triangular charms stitched along top edge of red centre. Two eye holes cut out above rectangle; fabric ridge sewn down middle of covering, imitating a nose. Ridge has coins attached along the top edge, and plastic beads and buttons along the sides. Two thin, pink embroidered bands attached to sides of covering, with strands of metal beads hanging from the bottom edges; red and green tassels throughout beads. Embroidered bands have columns of orange, green, and yellow diamonds along them. Additional coin and bead decorations along bottom edge of face covering. Back is lined with floral fabric and has a leather tie on the left side (lower half- part b); two fabric loops in each corner along top edge.

Earring3553/2

Large, heavy silver hook earring. Suspended from circular pendant are a series of layered chains, ending in gold-coloured circles. Large hollow circle hangs directly underneath pendant; top part made up of openwork, bottom is closed and undecorated. Additional layered chains suspended from hollow circle; semi-circle and teardrop-shaped charms hang around circumference of circle. Main pendant and all charms have raised flower-like motifs across them. Red glass(?) beads decorate centres of circular pendant, and teardrop and semi-circle charms on front of earring; beads on pendant and semi-circle have moon and star designs incised on them.

Perfume Bottle3553/4

Triangular prism-like silver perfume bottle; stopper is missing. Long cylindrical neck extends from top, with a protruding lip; two curved handles, with looped ends, extend from either side of bottle. Bottle has a triangular top, flat back, and its front two sides curve outward at centre; bottom of bottle rounds to a point. Front two sides have curvilinear and vine-like motifs incised across surface; background covered with dots. Two raised circles in middle of designs, filled with a red mineral(?). Back of perfume bottle has three connected concentric circles, and a large floral motif incised in the middle. All sides of bottle have plain borders around edges. Large ring attached to left handle; additional loop clasp on left shoulder of perfume bottle.

Dress3485/1 a-b

Full length dress with long sleeves and a matching scarf (part b). Dress is made out of printed red and yellow cotton. Designs on red cotton are black teardrop shapes with yellow dotted lines. Designs on yellow are dark brown and light orange floral motifs with dots throughout. Front of dress is predominantly red, with two yellow panels extending from the waist down. Bottom edge is trimmed with yellow fabric, bordered by burgundy ribbons with embroidered geometric motifs. Motifs done in white. Back of dress is predominantly made of the yellow textile with two red panels running down the entire length. Sleeves are red and have yellow cuffs. Cuffs are trimmed with burgundy embroidered ribbons and circular, gold coloured beads. Dress has a square neckline with heavy embroidery around the edges and beneath it, forming a chest piece. Motifs are geometric and floral, with mirrors throughout, done in multiple colours. Beneath chest piece, a burgundy ribbon spans the waist. Burgundy tassels, with white and red beads, hang along the bottom edge. Two panels of sheer black fabric extend from the shoulders to the waist line, framing the chest piece, and hang loosely from there. The panels are trimmed, from the waist down, with burgundy ribbons and circular, gold coloured beads. Tassels hang from the bottom edges. Semi-sheer red undergarment beneath dress. Dress is unlined and has zippered opening along back. Scarf is rectangular and made of sheer yellow fabric. The left and right sides are trimmed with printed red cotton and large burgundy tassels. Tassels are attached to the scarf with strands of black, silver and red beads.

Coffee Pot3282/5

Copper coffee pot with a long trough-like spout curving out from the body. The outer metal of the pot is a dark gold-brown colour, whereas the inside, and underside of the lid, is silver coloured. The lid has a bronze finial on top. The pot has a long handle made of a long, strip of bronze metal, soldered at the base, then riveted through the body, at the rim. The lid is attached with rivets to a hinging mechanism at the top of the handle. The lid is hollow but the bottom has been covered with a piece of silver coloured metal. There is a small stamp on the upper side in Arabic.

Silver metal ornament consisting of a disc with a sunburst-like design with numerous small chains hanging along the entire edge. The disc is slightly domed with a central, round protrusion with a red piece of glass in the centre. The design consists of a filigree pattern with elongated teardrop shapes emanating from the centre. Around the edge is a chain fringe with leaf dangles on the end. One chain has a thin circular disc with a floral design on it. The back is flat and slightly concaved.

Silver necklace consisting of a hollowed cylinder with a central lozenge and flower design and domed, circular filigree ends. From the bottom hangs three short chains, one partial chain and three long chains that hang off of a central, circular piece with a red piece of glass. Rolled up nside the cylinder is a long page of scripture from the Koran that has blue and yellow colouring on it.
