Basket2911/14 a-b

Small rectangular cedar basket with lid. The basket is straight sided with sides flaring slightly toward the mouth. Imbricated inverted triangles in dark red, black and light brown decorate each side. The lid is flat with a slightly raised edge and is decorated with three lines of imbrication down the centre and an encircling line around the edge.

Basket2911/18 a-b

Rectangular cedar basket with lid. Basket bottom is pedestal style with four triangular legs. The shape of the pedestal influences the interior of the basket, with small ledges in each of the short ends, and the centre of the interior base lays at the centre bottom of the pedestal. Horizontal lines of imbrication in alternating dark red, light brown and black encircle the basket and base. The lid is flat with a rim that sits inside the basket and is also decorated with lines of imbrication in black, dark red and light brown.

Rectangular cedar basket with one central handle. The basket has a protruding rounded point midway along the top of each of the longer walls where a long rounded handle is attached at both sides. The outside is decorated with alternating horizontal lines of imbrication in dark red and brown-black.

Rectangular basket with two handles. Basket is made of cedar slats with cedar root wrapping. The basket is decorated on the long sides with dark red imbrication in an inverted central triangle accompanied by two smaller triangles, and an inverted black and white triangle on each of the shorter sides. Dark red imbrication encircles the base. The basket is topped with several rows of looping in a loose diamond pattern, each culminating in a long, wrapped, semicircular handle.

Round, coiled basket with lid. The basket flares slightly up toward the rim. The sides are decorated with a continuous zigzag stripe of imbrication in dark red, light brown and black. The base has a few strips of dark red imbrication. The lid is round with a raised knob and has a four lobed flower pattern in black, light brown and dark red imbrication.

Rectangular-oval basket with two handles attached along the long edges. Basket is made of cedar wood slats wrapped with cedar root. The basket flares slightly toward the top edge, and is decorated on the long sides with dark red, black and light brown imbrication in diagonal lines, as well as a dark red imbricated base. The basket is topped on the sides with three rows of decorative looping in a loose diamond pattern. Each side culminates in a long wrapped semicircular handle.

Rectangular cedar basket with two handles. The basket is straight sided, but flared slightly toward the top. Two long wrapped handles are attached on both sides. The basket is made up of cedar slats wound with cedar root, alternating with openwork areas. The base has a checkerboard pattern of imbrication, which is partially broken off.

Rectangular cedar basket with attached lid. Imbricated inverted triangles in dark red, black and light brown decorate each side. The lid is attached to the basket by two hide thongs on one of the longer sides. It is flat with a slightly raised edge and a wrapped and braided half circle handle at the centre also attached with leather thongs. The lid has an inner rim that sits inside the basket, and the top is decorated with several lines of imbrication down the centre and an encircling line around the edge.

Rectangular basket. The sides flare slightly toward the rim. The construction is cedar root wrapped over a slat structure. The basket is decorated with a series of imbricated open triangles in dark red and light brown, with black included in the bottom. Small areas of imbrication in dark red can be seen along the base.
