Imperfect Doll2699/1 a-c

Multi-media installation. The doll (a) consists of a wooden artist’s maquette body with brain-tanned deer hide head (no facial features), hand coverings, and dress (with fringes at sleeves and decorated with English and Cree text written in pink gel-pen ink), pink and yellow cut-glass seed beads sewn onto dress and moccasin boots, horse hair braids with white satin ribbon, ncecklace of porcupine quill, brass bead and sinew, clam shell earrings, and a belt with large brass buttons. The doll sits in a chair (part b) constructed of deer hide, wood, and sinew, and face a small LCD screen, which fastens to a wooden base (part c), and plays a video loop, with video and audio footage created by the artist.

Six-sided bracelet (a) has a central image on each side. The sides are square in shape and are attached to the next side with a hinge. One of the squares has a half-circle cut out of the metal. The catch (b) for the bracelet extends above the bracelet. The catch is pin-like in shape, with a flat narrow body and a rounded moonstone set into the head of the catch. Artist inscription on back.

Circular hanging pendant has a central image of a whale underneath a person rowing a boat. The images are almost entirely enclosed inside a wire circle. There are three wave-shaped wires inside the circle plus a smaller circle situated at the top of the pendant.

Pair of dangling earrings. The hanging part of earring (a) has curving perforated surface. Dangling in front of perforated surface is a carved flat metal whale with the tail above its head. The part with the ear post is shaped as a half-circle and has a wave running through the bottom. The central image on the other earring (b) is a person rowing a boat. This image is surrounded by an incomplete circle of wire. A wave runs under the boat. The part with the ear post is shaped as a half-circle and has a wave running through the bottom.
