Brown woven hanten (袢纏, also written as 半天, 袢天, 半纏) made of sakiori (裂織) textile. The woven fabric consists of brown, blue, purple and red pieces. There is a wide blue band around the neck and partway down the centre opening. The opening and sleeve edges are edged with blue trim. The sleeves are slightly tapered. The inside is unlined.

Mounting paper folds in half with rectangular windows over 2 rectangular stenciled samples. Sample at top left is of rows of circles which touch the adjacent, on each side; all on a light white/brown ground. Every other circle has a red/brown rim, a black cross with diagonal black lines out from the centre in each quadrant, on nearly white. Alternating circles have a red/brown rim and 8 pointed star with nearly white dots, sashes and background with a yellow centre circle. Sample at lower right is equidistant blue alternating with orange circles with a many pointed petal pattern on a nearly white ground. Centres are yellow on orange and dark red on blue. Between circles is a large grey elongated leaf pattern on a light blue ground.

Sample at top left is of 6 petalled flowers with swirling green arabesque-like leaves between, all on a white ground. Centre of flowers are darker circles, or green on yellow with white centre and white lines out to petals. Sample at bottom right is a red/orange on white checkerboard pattern. Every other horizontal row has 2 different alternating designs on the red/orange. These are 6 white dots around a centre dot with yellow circle over part; black cross in a white circle with a white dot at centre; red triangles with dot top and bottom and white triangles left and right; white 'x' with 4 white dots between lines.

Mounting paper folds in half with rectangular windows over 2 rectangular stenciled samples. Sample at top left has evenly spaced rows of star-like 8 pointed flowers on a red/orange ground. Each point is white and centres alternate between an orange or black diffuse circle with a white centre. Sample at lower right has vertical off-set rows of near circles in alternating colours with four pointed oval centres in ground colour of light white/brown. Yellow lines run horizontally between circles and curve vertically around circles connecting above and below each. Centres of some circles are more intensely coloured.

Each row separated by a blue/green, grey then pink line. Sample at bottom right is an all over floral design with swirling lines between flowers, trees and stylized thatched hut. The colours are in discontinuous wash lines of yellow, orange/brown, orange, green and green/brown.

Mounting paper folds in half with rectangular windows over 2 rectangular stenciled samples. Sample at top left is of evenly spaced rows of scalloped edged white circles with centre decorations on a dark green wash ground. The decorations repeat in 2 horizontal rows of 2 types. The first row has a stemmed flower with red/brown blooms and variegated green, yellow and grey/brown leaves, repeating with a large pink/red and dark pink/red bloom or butterfly. The second row has a dark pink/red and pink/red fish with 2 lower fins, facing right, repeating with a 5 petalled red/brown flower with yellow and green centre circles and a white 5 pointed star and white dots. Sample at bottom right is identical to the top one only the background is red/brown and the decorations are all in dark and light grey.

Between each set are 2 red/brown half circles, at centre they connect with the line between circles; to margin they are brown with a row of white dots along curve at white curving line next to red/brown line. Sample at bottom right is horizontal row pattern of step-edged boxes in green and green/brown between red/brown triangles with line connecting all shapes; alternating with rows of stylized butterflies in various colours.

Design of 3 brown chests with various black detail. Top right chest is truncated at top, 3 rows of drawers and 2 heavy scalloped legs. Chest at bottom left has cupboard doors and a trailing blue and yellow plant in a black and white shallow dish on top. Square-like chest on right has a side handle showing, 3-4 ? drawers and a grey and white vase on top in front of a large grey square. At bottom right is a grey lozenge shape and 3 six sided shapes in blue or brown and yellow. Mounting paper folds from right over part of sample.
