You’re in the results section right now. You can still perform “Quick searches” from the menu bar, but if you’re new to the RRN, click the Search tab above and use the exploratory search.

Basket sampler showing four sections of different types of basket weaving. Openwork basket is tall and rectangular, with a rounded base and walls that flare slightly toward rim. Large loops are attached at the upper layer, through which are passed two tumpline ropes that serve as a handle. A skinned ermine is sewn to the handle (with its nose and whiskers still present). Cedar oil was applied to the basketry after completion.
Round basket with gammadion cross design. Woven basket has a recessed base from which rises the wall, flaring slightly outward toward rim. Weaving is fine and tight, and decoration is an imbricated pattern of an encircling line of gammadion crosses (swastikas) at centre in dark brown between rows of parallelograms in brown and shades of orange.
Small, tightly woven basket with lid. Base rises at centre, with a patterned weave. Round basket has a bulbous body with a decorative stepped line and small triangle pattern below the shoulder in colours of rust and dark brown. Basket rim curves inward, coloured light brown with a small checked pattern at shoulder. A lid (part b) fits onto rim, round, rising toward its centre where sits a small raised finial. Patterning on the lid matches that of the basket.
Large round basket. Tightly woven willow wood basket has a small, flat base from which the wall flares upward toward the wide mouth. A rattlesnake pattern decorates the midpoint: rust coloured diamond shapes outlined in dark brown, with brown border lines running above and beneath.
