Provenience note: many objects in the Chirouse collection were catalogued as Duwamish, however that really only seems to definitively apply to Catalogue No. 130965. Accession record indicates that the collection is the "handiwork of the Snohomish, Swinomish, Lummi, Muckleshoot and Etakmur Indians on the Tulalip Reservation in Washington Territory".From card, for E131001-0 and E131001-1: "Fibrolite? & slate."

From card: "Introduced by Makah 70 years ago. [i.e. about 70 years prior to 1917.] Rather fine work and good form. Design flying birds."

From card: "Beak pouch of [blank on card] for storing lumps of pitch." It appears this may be made from a pelican beak?, per Barbara Brotherton, Seattle Art Museum, 12-7-2009

Columbia River/Wasco/Wishram style horn bowl.

From card: "Flexible, more or less cylindrical baskets, one with slight expansion toward rim; which on both of them is braided and also looped on one. In partially open wrapped twining, undecorated except for a few brown stripes of the basic cedar bark, not covered with the yellowish fiber strips of the rest."

At least 3 bundles of long strips of plant fiber, tied together into one bundle by strips of fiber and cotton cloth.
