Large skein of twisted coconut fibre. The fibre is loosely coiled, and then tightly wound in a spiral across the length. The fibre is tied to create a loop on one end.

Headdress3274/24

Fibre garland headdress of pandanus leaf. The strands of fibre are woven together by grass(?) at the band, then loose ends extend out creating a fringe. The garland is composed of two layers of fibre - one dyed a pinkish red, and the other natural. The grass band extends out forming ties at either end of the garland.

Paint Container3582/2

Wooden paint bowl, or container, carved in the shape of a frigate bird. The bird's head projects out from one end of the bowl, with its tail at the opposite end. A knotted and looped hanging cord is attached through four holes spaced evenly around the upper edge. The cord is made of twisted fibres. The bird is roughly carved, with pencil marks indicating the design. Writing on base in red ink.

Wooden navigation figure. The carving is of two similar wooden figures attached along their backs and heads, facing in opposite directions. The figures end at their thighs, which attach to a base of lime 'cement' with stingray spines embedded in it, projecting downward. Eight spines were originally attached, with four on each side, but currently two are broken off at the base and four others are partly broken. The figure has a long knotted and looped fibre cord attached at the top of the heads.

Large, rectangular storyboard painting on ironwood. Bordered on all sides with a band of alternating black and yellow triangles. Depicts a yellow, white and maroon boat, operated by three people, sailing on a dark blue sea, away from a black coastline. Two large buildings on centre of land, with tall pointed roofs. Buildings are yellow, brown, white and red; roofs are black and white. Gables are yellow and have animal, human and geometric motifs incised across them in rows. Palm trees around buildings. In foreground, on the water, is a maroon canoe filled with fourteen people; twelve are holding paddles upright, one is at the rudder, one is on a central platform, blowing a horn(?). Large black and white bird flying in the top left corner, with a fish caught in its beak. Scene done in mix of high and low relief carving. Background is naturally coloured. Unsigned.
