Thin, white, handmade paper with seven Dongba pictographic script in black ink. Chinese characters appear down the left side with a red stamped seal. Images include the following from top down left to right: a profile of a horse head with a hoof and three circles intersected by a line; an elongated H-shape with a rectangle underneath the bar and a profile of a goat head; and a backwards double s-shape, a curve hook shape, and an oval that has two long upward curved protrusions. The paper is horizontally rectangular.

A headdress consisting of a rigid crown covered with blue cotton twill on the inside and red cotton on the outside. The outside is decorated with horizontal embroidered bands consisting of a pattern of red and blue diamond shapes. There is also a horizontal row of gold-coloured sequins, above which, there is a short horizontal row of silver-coloured flowers. Along the bottom edge, there is a red fringe. There are five vertical decorative elements consisting of a wool red, white, and green pompom at the top and dangling pendants of beads, tassels, bells, buttons, and shells. Another vertical element os a black cotton band with a cross stitch design which is attached across the inside of the crown and hangs down on the outside.

Black baby carrier (part a) with applique. The carrier is rectangular with a small opening on one side. In the centre is a square with floral, vase and butterfly motifs on red ground, with surrounding pink square and green floral borders. Around the squares are floral, vase and butterfly motifs on black ground. The back is lined with black fabric.

Manuscript leaf. Long, horizontally rectangular strip of handmade paper with coloured Dongba pictographic script. Pictographs are sectioned off in smaller rectangular compartments, running horizontally in a storyboard-like layout. A vertical strip on the left side reveals a seated man in traditional costume. Discernible pictographs include several seated figures, a horse, a deer, a fish, various stick figures, a rain cloud, and a dove. Pictographs are drawn in a black crayon material, and filled in with various colours including yellow, green, pink, and blue. The paper has raw, uneven edges.

Square blue textile with appliqué pattern. The pattern is made of rows of a diamond motif in red, green and blue, outlined with white fabric on blue ground. There are small dark blue circles over where the diamonds meet. Around the outside is a yellow border with white overcast stitching around the edges. The back is unlined.

Square white textile with embroidery and appliqué. The large centre design has an appliqué green square, surrounded by red ovals, followed by circles of curved blue and then black rectangles with scalloped outer edges. Embroidered on the pieces are lotus, bird, fish, floral and figure motifs. In the corners are black appliqué pieces in a ruyi design with embroidered floral motifs. The back is unlined.

Black baby carrier with embroidery. The carrier is rectangular with a long tie sewn onto the front. The tie is red, edged with black and ending in twisted tassels. In the centre is an embroidered square with star and geometric motifs on white ground. The back is lined with pink fabric.

Small white towel. The rectangular towel has red stamped writing across both short ends. The writing is English and Asian characters, flanking a wreath motif above the number 88. There is a blue line along both long sides. The back is undecorated.

Long wide black belt with embroidery. The belt ends are pointed with a black and white geometric pattern, edged with pink embroidery and trim. On the ends, the pattern wraps around onto the back of the belt over pink cotton lining.

Headdress with embroidery and tassels. The headdress has dark blue rectangular pieces sewn to the ends of a long plaid band. The abstract pattern embroidered on the pieces is predominantly pink, red and white on dark blue ground. Attached to the ends are multicoloured tassels decorated with beads.
