Basketry TrayA17095

Coiled cedar root tray with handles. Simple interlocking coiled work with parallel slat base with two rows of watch-spring construction at the edge. Wide slat for the side with an extra row separating into handles. Braided edge under the handle and partial imbrication. Inside of the tray is decorated with six geometric patterns, two large diamond patterns in red and black, with a smaller black diamond inside. Exterior of basket has a series of diamonds and wide beading. .

Spruce root basket with "rattle" lid; base: alternate rows of plain twined and plaited weaving (from central origin). Sides and lid: plain twined weaving with the same type of alternate weaving as above on the under part of the lid. Lid has two tiers with pebble in between. False embroidered design of black fern root against light swamp grass. Continuous figures.

Coiled cylindrical basket (a) with lid (b). Simple interlocking coiled work with bifurcated stitches on sides, and parallel slat base and lid construction reinforced by stitches along edges. The lid has a braided edge and indented flange. Lid is decorated with double staggered rows of red and black cherry bark beading. Sides are imbricated with a dog-like animal figure followed by double row of vertical beaded zigzag bands (alternately red and black), all against beaded bullrush ground. Colour: natural.

Cylindrical basket (a) with rounded lid (b); simple interlocking coiled weaving (with bifurcated stitches); parallel slat bottom reinforced by stitches along edges; watch-spring lid construction with small hole in centre; complete beading; flange along basket rim. Basket is completely beaded; sides: has each coil done in triple staggered rows of alternating bulrush, red, and black cherry bark. Lid: has each coil is beaded with alternating strips of white, black, and red, creating concentric circles. String handle attached with rawhide thongs. Colour: natural.

Cylindrical ring carved from wood that sits on one flattened side, and the edges are serrated with three segments of the edge burnt to a dark brown finish. Around the centre of the ring are two raised, ridged bands with a herringbone pattern that are accented with two bands of dark brown burnt wood, and these bands are crossed by two burnt dark brown lines.

Set of five bracelets or arm ornaments with wrap-around weave and geometric designs on the outside. Part a is orange-yellow with a checkered dark brown diamond motif overall, part b is orange-yellow with a checkered diamond, chevron, triangle and diagonal line motif, part c is off-white with a checkered diamond motif in dark brown, and parts d and e are both dark brown with an orange-yellow checkered diamond motif.
