Box1730/15

Rectangular wooden box with hinges and a lock. Lid of box has a painted eagle on it with outstretched wings and abalone eye. Small circles of abalone are inlaid around all four edges of lid. Painted on front of box, below lock, are an eagle and two beavers. On either end of box are small handles. One side handle has a string tied around it with two small keys (for lock) attached to it. Inside box is a cotton batting like material attached to inside of lid and bottom of box.

Rattlesnake Woman BowlNd716

A rattlesnake woman smudge bowl sculpted in stone. The female figure is seated with outstretched arms and an animal figure forming the bowl. The eyes of the animal are inlaid with abalone. Two snake shapes form heart shape behind figure with single rattle protruding from small of back. Stone surface is smooth and polished.

Button blanket made of dark blue wool with a red felt border. A red frog image is appliqued in the centre of the blanket with eyes made from discs of abalone shell and a mouth outlined in white glass beads. The four corners have designs representing coppers in red applique. The images and inside of the border are outlined with buttons, the border in two alternating sizes.

Carved wooden chair with an upholstered seat. Four legs are carved on three sides and topped by carved heads, two at front are animals, and two at back are human, all have abalone shell eyes. All interior surfaces of chair are carved. Backrest has carved human face at top. Designs include ovoid, circle, eye, and animal forms, combined with plant, leaves, and other design elements. Red paint and dark stain applied. Small white stones are inset into edges of chair. Brown upholstery cushion, with metal studs along base.
