Bird RattleA8047

Rattle in the shape of an eagle with inlayed abalone shell eyes and a face carved on its underside. The wings that extend upward from the top of the body have bird's heads depicted along their proximal edges, and defined feathers. The body of the bird is incised with crescent-shaped and short straight lines. The hooked beak is also engraved with a crescent shape. The face on the underside of the bird has an open mouth with eight visible teeth, and two oval-shaped eyes which are outlined and capped with eyebrows. A faint line is visible along the lower portion of the bird where the two pieces were glued together after the pebbles were inserted. The rattle has a dark brown finish. The letter "A" is carved on top of the eagles head with an oval shape directly below it.

Spoon carved from one piece of black and brown mountain goat horn with a shallow, slightly curved bowl that tapers slightly towards the tip, and a tapering handle carved with a humanoid face and a band above the head with vertical lines carved into it. The spoon is inlaid with abalone shell at the junction between the bowl and the handle.

Vertically rectangular wood piece. Abalone bird design with human arms and legs. Plain face has oval abalone shell inlaid eyes surrounded by a tapering black oval and a blue area, a black beak that is red down the middle, and an open red mouth showing one oval abalone shell inlaid tooth. The red limbs are bent togehter with two vertically rectangular abalone shell inlaid pieces in between. Red all around and bordered by square shale inlaid pieces around the sides and the top.
