Brown-gray bottle fragment with rounded base. Red brown painted bird decoration in blind spout with incised eyes, prominent nose and a hole as a mouth. 0.8 cm reed stamp circles in brown and red-brown divided by incised whisker element. Molded manufacture; burnished surface. Incomplete, breakage restored.
Interior decorated, molded bowl. Design of a painted otter-being, holding a cucumber in its paws on red-brown, white, black and gray. Serrated signifier on black. Red sides and rim in black paint. Burnished surface. Part b is a piece of the bowl rim, in red-brown paint. Broken and partially repaired.
Flaring, brown slipped domestic bowl with convex base. Traces of brown-red paint. Burnished surface. Pieces had been glued together, but currently in two pieces.
Large 'Yagis (sea creature) mask, with a model tanker ship in its mouth. Mask face is round, with a heavy dark brow emphasized with carved eyebrows and black paint. Black and red eyes are surrounded by a large area painted blue. The nose is wide with red, flared nostrils, and the mouth is thick, with lips holding a white model oil tanker. Atop the head sit large rounded ears, partially obscured by a thick fringe of long brown horse hair, which also falls around the sides of the face, and is used to create a beard and small moustaches at either corner of the mouth.
Nine mounted and labelled samples on an off-white card (part b) in a labelled folder of the same material (part a). Six rectangular samples of three kinds of bark used in Japanese handmade paper; three samples include both brown outer and inner bark; three are inner bark only, lightest in centre. Remaining three samples are a small square of yellow-white parchment; a larger square of light brown pounded mulberry; and a rectangular sample of light brown pattra inscribed with black cursive writing.
A clear plastic bag containing white fish adhesive and yellow and yellow-brown grass. The bag is closed by wrapping its end around itself and it is put in another bag.
Round hoop made of root is threaded through four pairs of scallop shells. Eight bunches of grey and black striped feathers are attached near top with bark strips. Carved wooden handle is in the form of a double-headed seal and is attached with two pieces of leather and three brass tacks.
