King Mask2946/1

Moreno king mask, made of painted tin. Flesh coloured male face with a silver crown and gold pipe. The blue eyes are framed with spiked eyelashes that fade from red at the base to yellow and white. The eyebrows are thick, furrowed and dark blue. At the top of the head are two flame-like projections, edged in dull gold. There are two sets of ears. The front pair is dark blue with irregularly spiky edges. The back set is large, green at the centre with six large flame-like points around the edges and decorated with a gold trim. There is silver glitter on the front of the crown.

Walrus tusk carving of blanket toss game, depicting five figures holding the raised edges of a blanket elevating a female figure. Hair, facial features, dotted edging of coats and rims of shoes are coloured in with black paint. Blanket is oval in shape, with elongated oval hand holds around the outer edging. All figures have their hoods down, save for the female being tossed.

Small knife. The metal blade has a sharpened cutting edge and point and a thick spine. It is attached to a wooden handle with wrapped sinew, adhesive and a nail. The handle is long with a curved butt.

Spear2919/1

Long ceremonial spear made of wood. A long sharp point, painted dark orange, flares into a head delicately carved into six thin, down-pointing blades on each side. The blades are elaborately painted in multiple colours, with patterns of lines, dots, cross-hatching and colour blocks. The shaft is very long, thin, and relatively straight with some natural curving, and ends in a tapered point. It is also painted dark orange.

Sleeman Makazin2887/1 a-b

Pair of beaded cardboard moccasins. The sole and outside body are made from stitched together pieces of light brown paper from a beer case. The case’s perforations can be seen in the paper, and spots of adhesive remain. The toe-top is made from the red title labels of the case, and small, white glass beads have been sewn on in decorative patterns. The inside of each moccasin is lined with dark blue denim which is attached to the body with red stitching along the top.
