A tall rounded royal blue cotton hat that has vertical folds all around with black edging at the base, and a red ball on top. Off-white ties, and lining.
The folded opera hat is light brown and rectangular with a rounded top piece curling down on either side. The hat has a light brown centre panel which folds inwards on both sides. Embroidered on the centre panel are pink and orange peonies with green leaves and gold swirls and a pink and orange bat. On the inside of both side folds is a red peony with green leaves and gold swirls. The rounded top piece has pink and orange peonies with green leaves and gold swirls. One curled end has a small orange flower and an attached green tassel. The other curled end has a small red flower and an attached pink tassel. The designs on the back of the hat mimic those on the front. There are pink orange and red peonies, green leaves, gold swirls. However, the small flowers on the curled ends are blue. On the inside of the hat is ecru lining, stiffened with cardboard. Two ecru ties are attached.
The folded hat is black and square with a triangular top piece. The hat folds inwards on both sides. On the front is a large orange, blue, red and purple peony with green leaves and brown curved lines. The same design is duplicated on the triangular piece with the addition of two red peonies and a yellow border. These upper and lower designs are repeated in the folded side panels. On the back there is only the upper design. On the inside of the hat is ecru lining, stiffened with cardboard. Two ecru ties are attached.
Black hat with thin 'L' shaped band. The top of the hat is rounded at the corners and bowed in the centre. On each side, a thin band begins at the front edge and ends at the bottom edge. The band is white with alternating green flowers and red dots. The inside of the hat is ecru lining over cardboard. There are Chinese characters stamped on the inside in blue.

The folded hat is green and rectangular, decorated with appliqué, metal-mirrored discs and two long streamers. The hat flares to a point at the top, narrows at the base and folds inwards on both sides. On the front is a large appliqué yin yang design with a scalloped edge in silver and pink thread. Around the yin yang are appliqué leaf motifs in silver thread. The silver leaf motif continues on the inside folds and on the back of the hat. Covering the entire surface of the hat are metal discs with mirrored centres. Along the bottom is a silver border with brass discs, edged with purple with traces of gold. Attached to the back inside edge are two long green streamers. On the inside of the hat is ecru lining, stiffened with cardboard. Two ecru ties are attached.

Opera headdress representing an official's hat with imitation kingfisher feather consisting of bright blue silk. The main part of the headdress (a) consists of two pieces of silver painted wire mesh joined together with bird and cloud designs in blue silk and metallic edging: the front piece is domed with a loop at the top centre; the back piece is also domed but protrudes slightly at the top and has a band of silver painted paper with a raised geometric design at the back and has three sockets, two at the sides and one at the back, that hold the four attachments. Two straps extend down from the sides of the headdress. There are two elongated ovoid-shaped extensions (b and c), each with a circular Chinese design element at the centre and scalloped designs at the ends in bright blue silk, wire mesh, metallic edging, and a short rod that fits into the socket at the back of the headdress. Two side extensions (d and e) fit into the slots in the sides of the main part, and each is composed of an elongated dragon's (?) body from which protrudes a dragon's (?) head with two bright blue pompoms extending out from the head, each on a wire spring.
Bright pink collar of fine hemp with brass frog closure. There is blue braid and white trim around the edges. The back lining is white cotton.
Mask with cedar bark fringe at top and a bundle of cedar bark at either side, a protruding brow and hooknose, crescent-shaped eye holes, and an open mouth with protruding lips. A bunch of white and grey feathers is bound to a wooden stick (part b) with blue thread and adhesive fabric tape, and fits into a hole in the top of the mask. The mask is painted white with heavy black eyebrows, black pupils and eyelids, red nostrils and lips, and a curved black line on both sides that accentuates the cheeks. A piece of wood is attached across the back at the top. Two holes either side of the mouth near the edge of the mask.
