Armband2704/21

Large, long metal armband with central geometric incised design on both the surface and flanking the slit opening on the underside. In between the design are incised horizontal lines bordered by a braided-like pattern. The ends are slightly flared.

BucketCi11 a-b

Bucket (a) and lid (b). The bucket has a cylindrical body that flares at the top and bottom, and is widest at the bottom of the base. A handle of bent copper is fastened to the body with a copper loop and rivets at each end. The handle is engraved with a series of lines in a zigzag pattern as well as dots and circles. The body is hammered and incised in horizontal bands of geometric and intertwined guilloché designs. The lid is slightly convex with a knob at the top centre and is decorated with concentric bands of floral and geometric pattern.

Frontlet HeaddressA4173

Headdress with frontlet. Frontlet depicts eagle with killer whale above and human-like face below. Painted black around eyes and beak, blue around mouth, red on forehead, side of face, mouth, and claws. Mirrors inset for bird eyes. Frontlet is inlaid with abalone shell pieces around three edges, with an extra, smaller, row on sides. Shell pieces are tied on. Ermine pelts, some with red cloth tied to them, drape down at the sides and back. Only a few sea lion whiskers still extend at top.

Case composed of two rectangles of cardboard covered in leather and folded against each other. One side of the case contains a mirror on the inside, and both sides are joined with a strip of red leather attached at the top centre of each. A loop is created at the centre of the leather strip by a band of red leather. The outside of the case is painted red with a roughly symmetrical geometric design in carbon ink and the edges of the design are emphasized with indented lines.

Silver metal ornament consisting of a disc with a sunburst-like design with numerous small chains hanging along the entire edge. The disc is slightly domed with a central, round protrusion with a red piece of glass in the centre. The design consists of a filigree pattern with elongated teardrop shapes emanating from the centre. Around the edge is a chain fringe with leaf dangles on the end. One chain has a thin circular disc with a floral design on it. The back is flat and slightly concaved.

Silver necklace consisting of a hollowed cylinder with a central lozenge and flower design and domed, circular filigree ends. From the bottom hangs three short chains, one partial chain and three long chains that hang off of a central, circular piece with a red piece of glass. Rolled up nside the cylinder is a long page of scripture from the Koran that has blue and yellow colouring on it.

Ceremonial Panel1559/2

Rectangular embroidered and appliquéd textile panel, decorated with mirrors and edged with closely-spaced cowrie shells on three sides; the top edge is has a fibre loop attachment at the left corner. The design in the centre of the panel consists of two square motifs, embellished with rows of mirrors on a red and dark yellow background. A border design of embroidered and appliquéd bands and mirrors surrounds the central motifs. There are three 'tassels' made of clusters of bell-shaped pompoms of fine cotton thread and suspended from twisted fibre cords, evenly spaced on the 'bottom' edge; the tassels are trimmed with cowrie shells and metal beads.

Spoon shaped stick pin with deep embossing and cut detail of a scallop pattern edge, a ring of floral design, a ring of repousséd ovals with a central green piece of glass clasped by four metal triangular pieces. Top, central, large scallop has a white bead on one side and orange on the other. A long, pointed, pin is riveted to the top and bottom of the disc; a short metal piece, with a rounded top, stretches out from the scallop.
