Artificial Limb2950/4

Hand-made artificial limb. The knee height leg is constructed of wood, rubber and metal. The limb is made of a single piece of wood carved into a cylinder wider at top and narrowing toward the ankle. The cylinder is sliced in half from top down to ankle, allowing it to be adjusted in size. The artificial limb is attached to the wearer’s leg by an encircling piece of wire that is twisted using a short wooden rod to tighten and close the slats. A small rubber plate is attached at bottom by nails for a foot. A fabric handle is attached to the leg at top and ankle.

Hat2902/88

Small round black hat with colourful striped applique covering the front side. Domed metal ornaments stitched with purple thread form three vertical lines at the top of the hat. The two outside lines have a silver bell hanging from them and the centre line has a round silver coin hanging from it with embossed characters and grass (?) design. Below are two vertical lines of white beads with two metal domes, two cowrie shells, and one metal piece in between. Underneath are three flowers composed of white tube-shaped beads for petals and silver domes for the centres. A row of small white round beads lines the bottom edge of the hat. Three strands of white beads with alternating brown bean-shaped beads hang from either side of the hat, forming a loop under the wearer's chin. The top of the hat also features these loops of beads with alternating brown flat beads, which hang down the back of the hat. The top of the hat is covered in purple-pink feathers.

Flat, silver, open-ended bracelet with engraved designs. Pattern is repeated three times across the band and consists of diagonal lines above and below a pattern of circles and wavy lines with vertical semi-circles on either side.

Hat2902/47

Small hat with flaps across back and on sides. Back flap is blue with green swirl design, outlined in a yellow, green and pink rectangular border. Triangular ear flaps are blue with white centres and black applique designs stitched with pink and green. There is a black piece of fabric attached to both ear flaps, creating a chin strap (?). Top of hat has alternating black and blue triangular sections with anchor shaped applique design and triangle pattern beneath. Black sections have white applique with pink and green stitching. Blue sections have red applique with yellow and green stitching. Top of hat has a circular silver repoussed metal disc with a knot of yellow, orange, white, and blue wool coming out of a hole in the centre.
