Folding fan with thirty-eight inner ribs of split bamboo and two aluminum parent ribs. Covered with silver/white paper on both sides, one side having an irregular green stripe along lower edge of paper, with light green and white squares enclosing dots, and other side having the same along the upper edge of the edge of the paper. White plastic rivet through which is threaded a grey/green silk cord 18cm long (double), knotted, on which is threaded a green plastic bead.

A metal chain is attached from one flat wood bar to its respective end of the cylindrical wood piece. There are three equally spaced metal pins along the top of the cylindrical wood piece.
Female doll figure (part a) dressed as a dancing "harusami". Kimono is elaborate in bright colours of silver, red, yellow, and green. Label reads "Japan". Curly hair tied back with light yellow ribbon on top. Dangling silver hair adornments. Her left hand is holding a closed umbrella (part b) while her right hand holds a dangling fan. Standing on a black rectangular wood base.
Brown wooden hinged box (part a) with a set of weights inside; hinges are brass. The wood inside has carved holes that hold twelve brass weights of descending sizes (parts b-m); another hole holds five small, light, aluminum weights (parts n-r), and a narrow slot near the front holds metal tweezers (part s). All brass weights are circular with knobs on their top centres; aluminum weights are flat and pentagon-shaped, with the tips bent. The short tweezers have wavy arms. All weights have their unit of measurement and two designs engraved on them; designs are a bird-like outline and an "N" inside a six-pointed star. Tweezers are undecorated; "24" burned into interior of box.
