Shadow puppet of the character Celebi, made of semi-transparent animal skin and a watery paint or dye, soaked into the skin. The puppet head and body are separate pieces, tied together with a thin plastic cord through small holes at the neck. Figure is a male, wearing checked pants, a long red suit jacket, red hat and shoes. He holds a walking stick in one hand, his other hand is in his pocket; he has black hair and a mustache. The hole for the stick (to manipulate the puppet) is in his upper neck. The maker's name is written along the back of the neck.

Shadow Puppet3364/1

Shadow puppet, Karagoz, made of semi-transparent animal skin and a watery paint or dye, soaked into the skin. The puppet arm, body, legs and hat are separate pieces, tied together with a thin plastic cord through small holes. The figure is a male, wearing blue short pants, with a red and orange tunic, hat and shoes. The hat is made as a removable piece, but is attached in place with a plastic tie. His one hand is under his chin; his other arm is articulated in two places so its position can be manipulated (hold for stick in lower arm). He has a black beard and mustache. The main hole for the stick (to manipulate the puppet) is in his upper chest area. The maker's name is written along the back of one leg.

His one hand is under his beard; his other arm crosses the body so the hand is just below the other hand. He has a black pointed beard and a mustache. Knife3329/1 a-c

Long knife (part a), with a small knife (pisau raut; part b), and scabbard (part c). The knife blade is convex on one side and slightly concave on the other side, and is decorated with inlaid brass in a series of circles and vines. The blade itself gets gradually wider and then tapers in forming a point in line with the cutting edge. The grip is wrapped with finely woven fibre. The hilt of horn is elaborately carved, with red pigment in the lines, and has two drilled holes for an attachment. The whittling knife (part b) has a small curved blade of steel, with a brass cap marked with illegible text. The shaft is of a dark brown wood which transitions into alternating rings of horn and wood. The slightly curved hilt is elaborately carved. The scabbard is composed of a wood sheath for the sword, and an attached bark sheath for the knife. The wood sheath is composed of two pieces of wood, bound together by woven plant fibre and animal skin. The locket(?) is ornately carved. There is a long carrying strap of plaited plant fibre, and an ornament of shell and thin tassels with beads of pink, blue, green, red and yellow.

Shaman Mask3010/8

Shaman or Pipe Smoker mask. Face is red with black eyebrows and beard. Brows are furrowed; nose and mouth are askew. Leather headband nailed across top of forehead. A single hole is drilled on each side of the face with a string attached. Small holes line the top of the mask. Back of mask is plain.

Shinje Taita Mask3010/14

Shinje Taita or Father Sun mask. Face is long and narrow with a prominent pointed chin. The face is painted red with small black eyebrows. There are holes for eyes, nostrils and mouth. The eyes are deeply set and close together. The nose has a narrow ridge, and the mouth has pursed lips. A headband of alternating squares of green and yellow with red dots extends across the forehead with yellow feathers and a single brown feather extending up from. Two colourful feathers extend down from the headband - one on each temple. There are two holes on either side of the face with a leather strap attached for wearing.

The Harpist3010/21 a-d

Male figure playing a harp. Male figure (part a) wearing knee-length black robes with a white tie at the waist and a necklace made of white and red seeds. Both arms and legs are moveable. The large harp (part b) has two feet and is strung with nylon. The figure has large hands with long fingers, and an open mouth in which a dark brown wooden pipe (part c) fits. The figure stands on a wooden platform (part d), which has been painted white on top, and has four leather loops for footholds.

Violin3010/28 a-b

Stringed instrument (part a) and bow (part b). Instrument body is made from a gourd; the neck and fret are made of wood and plastic inserts. The gourd has two f-holes above the bridge. There are four tuning pegs below the scroll. The wooden bow has a short tip at one end, and a handle at the other. The bow appears to be strung with hide?
