Hat with slightly curved brim and cylindrical crown that tapers slightly from its base to a flat crown. The structure of the hat is formed by fine split bamboo. Top of crown made of two layers of fine woven horse hair (?); outer layer of sides of crown and top of brim have one layer of the same material. Sides of crown and underside of brim lined with a layer of diagonal weave horse hair or coarse split bamboo. Four lines of stitching on sides of crown forming a cross at top. Small remnants of ribbon tie at side.
Untanned leather cutout, translucent with red and black pattern painted on one side supported by split bamboo rod which is fastened with four cord ties. Patterned with a human-like moustached figure holding a coiled serpent on its left arm (as used) and a pyramid shaped object in its raised right hand. Figure is in profile, but two round eyes are frontal. Nose is hooked with a bird-like beak and mouth shows one prominent fang. Two feathered wings extend behind shoulders. Clothed with high headdress, trousers and body and limb jewelry. Shown in motion with extended legs. An object with two flower-like wheels lies between feet, the wheel pattern is repeated at waist level. Behind the figure the fanged serpent with extruded tongue is patterned with flecked scales and a row of red hearts. The wings, headdress and other prominent features are perforated by closely spaced round, oblong and triangular holes.
Bamboo brush with white coloured hair bristles. Eight bamboo pieces are attached together and at the top corners, the outer bamboo pieces are cut on the diagonal. Chinese characters are written down either side.
A cylindrical container carved with expansive landscape scenery all around.
Two-layered, rectangular box with handle that is attached to bottom section and goes over both sections and lid; top of handle has twined bamboo around it; sides are of three pieces of bamb. Box had basketry sides and plain bamboo around top and bottom edges and at corners. bottoms of both sections are made of planks of wood. Raised lips on inside rim of both sections fit into lid and bottom of top section.
Cone-shaped hat with a wide brim. There is a round knob located at the top of the hat where five braided strands of fibre meet. Inside of the hat is loosely woven with bamboo(?) and the outside of the hat is more finely woven with bamboo(?). The outer surface possibly has underlying paper(?) and leaves(?). Three is a woven head band on the inside of the hat.
Cone-shaped hat with wide brim. Natural colour, loosely woven on the outside. The inside is completely lined with leaves(?). Two pieces of bamboo are on the inside of the hat.
Small comb. Hollow bamboo piece with thin evenely spaced wooden comb teeth attached to tube by interwoven fibre.
Hat (a) made of two layers of finely woven black horsehair with a slightly tapering cylindrical crown, and a broad circular brim. Woven on circles of thin strips of split bamboo at the top of the crown, the base of crown, and the outer brim. Chin straps are of black silk lace ribbon. The separate hat lining (b) is made of more coarsely woven black horsehair that has a seam at the top and has a cord across the centre back to gather and fit to the head.
A closing fan made of 29 split bamboo ribs and paper. Painted designs are 7 repeated stylized human figures; white to shoulders, red robes, mitred white hats with large star at top. On each side of figures is a stylized lotus with blue leaves, on a yellow background. Border of white with pink and blue broken ribbons along top and bottom of paper. Two lanterns.
