Backstrap LoomSa449 a-g

A loom (parts a-g) with an unfinished woven wool textile consisting of burgundy, orange, blue, pink, green and yellow 8-forms on a burgundy and white striped ground. The textile is attached to two large, cylindrical shaped wooden sticks (part a); one at each end. Intertwine in the multi-coloured warp is a cylindrical shaped heddle covered in white twine (part c); a flat, rectangular batten with triangular, pointed ends (part d); two shed rolls (parts e-f) and a permanent bar (part g). Part b is a rectangular shaped, brown woven backstrape with brown and green twine ties at each end.

Dart Quiver2516/5 a-d

Part a is a hollow bamboo tube with part of one side open. Tied inside are nine long thin darts, pointed at both ends. One end of each has been dipped in poison. Parts b and c are two loose darts, also with poison on tips. Part d is a very thin, flat piece of bark or wood used as a wrapper to go around the other parts.

The object is a woven necklace. The top part consists of a chain of connected circles. From the mid-point of the chain, there is a single, woven strand. On this string, there are 7 pieces of wood (bamboo?) alternating with 6 chains of connected circles made of fibre. At the end of one of these chains, there is a nut casing attached via a fibre string. Also on the single strand, there is a dark brown fibre attached and knotted.

Vase1780/4

Green porcelain vase with white interior. A woven grass covering encases the vase: on the neck is open and solid weaving, and on the shoulder (which tapers to the base) are diamond-shaped interlaced strips; the base is solidly covered. The vase itself bears a floral design with birds. There is a round red stamp on the bottom.

Roughly rectangular wooden shield with points at both ends and a raised ridge down the centre. Bands of bamboo (?) laid horizontally across the shield at the top and bottom, held in place with zigzagging stitched of dark brown rattan (?); bands continue on reverse.
