Bow with three arrows sealed inside a plastic bag; bag is secured shut with a paper manufacturer's label stapled over the opening. Bow is wrapped with plant fibre and its string is made of the same material; arrows are attached to string and side of bow with plant fibre ties. Arrows have bamboo shafts, long wood tips, and pigment decorations along the tips; small feathers attached around bottoms of tips. Bamboo ear plug sealed inside a plastic bag; bag is secured shut with a paper manufacturer's label stapled over the opening. Earring is hollow and cylindrical with two triangular protrusions at the front opening; tuft of animal fur stuffed in between protrusions. Triangular, straight, and curved lines burned(?) around front of earring; diamond design amongst lines underneath triangular protrusions. Yellow card inserted into bag, behind earring, with image of person wearing one and another of the earring itself; paragraph of text describes materials, and technique for ear piercing.

Miniature Comb3557/4

Comb sealed inside a plastic bag; bag is secured shut with a paper manufacturer's label stapled over the opening. Comb has a square shaft and eight long teeth. Front of shaft has geometric designs carved in relief; back of shaft and teeth are undecorated. Design consists of black lines, trimmed with white, bordering four semi-circles surrounding a diamond; background is white, designs done in black and dark orange. Miniature Hammer3557/6

Sago hammer sealed inside a plastic bag; bag is secured shut with a paper manufacturer's label stapled over the opening. Hammer consists of a bamboo head with a wood handle, lashed together with rattan fibre. Top of wood handle is split in half and bamboo head is inserted into it. A twisted rattan cord is wrapped around the tip of the head and base of the handle, giving hammer a triangular shape. Orange card inserted into bag, behind hammer, with image of person using it; paragraph of text describe materials, and how the hammer is made.

Miniature Pipe3557/11

Pipe sealed inside a plastic bag; bag is secured shut with a paper manufacturer's label stapled over the opening. Pipe is cylindrical with a tapered mouth piece; mouth piece coloured black. Three incised decorative bands along length of pipe; all incisions are coloured in black. Top and bottom band consists of repeating thin triangles, with curved sides; horizontal lines in between triangles. Centre band has alternating triangle pattern; negative space forms a wavy line. Bottom opening of pipe is coloured black; interior is undecorated. Green card inserted into bag, behind pipe, with image of person using one and one of a pipe itself; paragraph of text describes maker, place made, and material.

Mask3581/1

Baining bark cloth face mask. The hat has a sturdy formed brim, which expands into a conical crown, painted with repeating patterns of triangles on a continuous line that alternate in black and orange-red. A pointed wooden tip is inserted into the point of the hat. The conical crown is formed with a circular piece of wood, which has straight sticks attached to it, that extend up and meet at the tip. The interior of the crown is lined with large leaves. The face mask is attached to the hat where the brim meets the crown, and has a sturdy formed jaw line. The mask is painted with a skeletal face design showing sunken cheeks and forehead, open mouth with pointed teeth and large outlined black oval-shaped eyes. There is a hole through the centre of the forehead.

Knife3589/1 a-b

Ceremonial parang (part a) with scabbard (part b). Long knife has a cylindrical horn hilt that tapers towards top; rectangular protrusion extends from left side. Both top half of hilt and protrusion are hollowed out. Circular, curvilinear, linear, and fang-like motifs carved in relief along upper half of hilt; hilt grip covered with woven band of rattan. Holes are drilled into the tapered section of the hilt, for hanging purposes; hilt attached to blade with resin. Knife blade is convex on one side, slightly concave on the other, and widens from the hilt; back edge of point is tiered. Linear, "X" designs, geometric, and curvilinear motifs incised along front of blade. Scabbard is composed of wood sheath for the long knife, and has a smaller plant fibre and fabric sheath tied to back with rattan. Wood sheath is made of two pieces of wood bound together with rattan; upper two bands of rattan are plain, bottom four are tied decoratively. Panels decorated with floral and curvilinear motifs carved along front of wood sheath. Smaller sheath is undecorated and has two pieces of bamboo along the interior edges, providing shape. Long braided rattan cord, with looped ends, threaded through small sheath, for carrying purposes.
