Rectangular coiled basket (bifurcated stitches) with center divider of parallel slat centre divider. Parallel slate base construction . Fully imbricated in cat-tail grass (?) with vertical rows of chevron pattern, alternating between red and dark cherry bark. Beading in cat-tail grass (?) along edge of divider. May have had a handle at one time.

Woven basket with a flat, rectangular bottom and flaring sides. Simple coiled work (bifurcated stitches); parallel splint base construction changing to watch-spring construction near edge; partial imbrication. Both sides are decorated differently; 1) series of large vertically connected diamonds shapes flanked by smaller diamonds. 2) stylized floral patterns flanking two strips of "arrowheads" separated by unimbricated stitches. Colours: red, black, tan.

Rectangular flared coiled basket (bifurcated stitches). Parallel slat base construction with oblique bifurcated reinforcement stitches. Upper half of basket fully imbricated in cat-tail grass (?), with geometric shape, outlined in dark cherry bark with red cherry bark interior outline, and two vertical lines in ends. Rim has intervals of dark cherry bark stitches. Beaded vertical parallel bands alternating in dark cherry bark and cat-tail grass (?).

Basket with four sides that taper towards the base. The basket is built in simple coiled work (bifurcated stitches) with an elongated watch-spring base construction and an overcast splint rim. Decorated with a series of crosses each in black and red cherry with an off-white bulrush interior, all in partial imbrication.

Large rectangular coiled work (bifurcated stitches) basket. Parallel slat base construction. Flange and foot are one slat each. Coiled handles. Partially imbricated front and back with two rows of joined horizontal rectangles, in dark and red cherry bark and cat-tail grass (?) in between. Between these rectangles are four diamonds in different colour patterns, in dark and red cherry bark and cat-tail grass (?). Sides have similar design, but with half of continuous rectangle design flanking three different colour patterned diamonds, in dark and red cherry bark and cat-tail grass (?). Foot and handles are beaded in red cherry bark. Part (a) Lid has two zig-zag rows, one on each side, in red and dark cherry bark with cat-tail grass (?) in between, flanking diamond design in three colours and then reversed. Corners of lid are heavily beaded, alternating in red and dark cherry bark. Four checkered squares fill the sides, alternating between cat-tail grass (?), dark cherry bark, cat-tail grass (?), and red cherry bark. Short sides have three short diagonal rows in cat-tail grass (?). Cherry bark beading at edge of top and bottom edge.

Tapa ClothC1746

The cloth is natural coloured, rectangular and decorated with eight panels. Each of the eight panels is a rectangle with a large 'X' extending from corner to corner. The border around the panel and the 'X' are red-brown. The area surrounding the 'X' is left natural but outlined in gray. The background is brown and cross-hatched with gray. Other details, such as differences in outlining and addition of dots, vary from panel to panel. Only one side of the cloth is painted.

Large bark cloth mask with a circular face, two protruding flat horns, a large protruding mouth and a cylindrical shaped neck. The forehead has a stylized painted design in brown and red on a natural ground. The eyes are large, detailed with brown and red circles while the nose and neck are decorated with red and black triangles. The back of the head detailed with black and red concentric circles. The mask is made in the form of a crocodile. The frame made of bent and tied wood. The side has I, RD; K-PUX written in black.

Tapa cloth with brown and black on natural ground. In the centre is a vertical brown line with a black zigzag pattern. On both sides of the line are rectangles with a geometric pattern including the word ‘hakauga’ and floral, leaf and circle motifs. At the ends are undecorated squares with the words ‘tagi’ and mele’ on the left and the numbers 1 to 4 on the right.
