Shaman's dance apron made of wool textile and decorated with puffin beaks and quillwork and/or woven plant material. [CAK 06/04/2010]
Woven fish figure. The fish has protruding lips, round face, upper and lower fins and a tail. Black dots are painted on the flat body. Attached to the back is a string for hanging.
Head and torso of a female with bare breasts, carved from a single piece of wood. Figure wears a pounded bark skirt with brown and beige diamond patterning attached around her waist with a metal floral clasp. A strand of seed beads is wound around her upper torso and yellow green feathers are stuck with wax to her ears and around her neck and head.
Tall, narrow drum with a skin top. The circular skin top is stretched down and tied with bark to a double woven band around the middle of the drum. Into the woven band are pushed nine carved stakes. The stakes are pointed and vary in length and shade. The drum is unpainted wood, broad at the top and tapers to the base. The interior is hollow.
Bow made of a segment of cylindrical hardwood that tapers towards the ends and a length of hide string tied at the ends. The wood is wrapped in bark fibre (?) at either end on the inside of the hide wrapping, and this fibre is coated in black tar resin.
Money in the form of a coil of bark fibre with red scarlet honeyeater bird's feathers and pigeon feathers gummed to the bark. The feathers overlap like shingles. The money is in several parts: a) a segment with nearly all of the scarlet honeyeater feathers intact; b) coil of bark fibre with pigeon feathers attached; c) coil of bark fibre with pigeon feathers and remains of some scarlet honeyeater feathers attached; d) coil of bark fibre with pigeon feathers and remains of some scarlet honeyeater feathers attached; e) coil of bark fibre with pigeon feathers and remains of some scarlet honeyeater feathers attached; f) end segment of woven fibre and bark with a roughly square piece of tortoise (?) shell lashed to the bark and light grey Job's Tears seeds at the edge as well as a segment of braided bark strap; g) four pieces of coil.
One outrigger canoe (part a) and paddle (part b). Canoe (part a) is deep and is painted black, blue, red, and white with decorated prow and stern. Outrigger framework has five main outward projecting posts with forty-three smaller ones bound by plant root or bark ? with a single connective bar along the canoe side, a single connective bar along the middle, and three connective bars along the outrigger side that has the shaped log float parallel to the hull of the canoe. Each of the five main outward projecting posts is connected to the shaped log float by four vertical posts. There are a few clumps of tied plant leaf-like material at both ends of the outrigger framework. Red-brown wood paddle (part b) with a slightly flat cylindrical handle. Paddle blade shape is long with slightly rounded tapering side edges tapering to a point. Flat base of the paddle blade is carved with a curved line on either side.
Shield made from one piece of rectangular wood with rounded corners. The shield has a carved x-shaped design with a flat centre, arms that have a raised square pattern, and one extra arm that is flat and widens towards the end. A bark fibre (?) strap is attached at the back with the ends fed through two holes at the sides of the shield and knotted in the front.
A hollow bamboo section filled with grass and bark. Bamboo is engraved with designs consisting of two horizontal bands of natural-coloured lozenges among black horizontal lines.and lozenges. Plug.
Bush banana tips strung on corded bark fibre. A single shell and three smaller strings of circular red plastic disks hang from centre.
