Lizard Figure3448/15

Beaded lizard design on piece of cut-out board. The black lizard has a six-petal flower in various shades of blue and white on each foot. Down the length of its back is a wide stripe of alternating brown and red-brown, with green leaf-like protrusions on each side. It has brown and purple-blue diamond-shaped eyes, and purple-blue nose and mouth. There are other designs in light blue and light purple-blue on the body, with brown on the tail. There is a handwritten note on the wood base.

Gourd bowl with beaded design covering interior. At centre, there is a red layered six-point star and six-line asterisk outlined in light blue and brown. Within the star is a hexagon in orange and yellow with a blue six-petal flower. Around the bowl are two large animal figures, six-point stars, and other geometric shapes on a blue background. The rim has rows of yellow, brown and blue beads.

Decorative beaded panel. The front is completely covered in beadwork depicting a large green cactus, with two small white deer on either side, facing it. There are small bird figures in light purple-blue. In the background, two mountains(?) in blues and greens, and two large six-petal flowers. The back is undecorated, and has a small rectangular piece of fabric with a metal grommet attached at the top, centre.

Gourd bowl with beaded design covering interior. At centre, there is a hexagon with multiple smaller hexagons within, with a six-pointed star-like shape. Around the hexagon are animals, large and small flower designs, and geometric shapes on a red background. There is a black band outlined in yellow around the interior of the rim with a light purple zigzag pattern.

Wood and bamboo spear. A thin, flat head of bamboo comes to a sharp point, and is bound at its other end to a narrow wooden shaft by string and beeswax. This is inserted into the shaved end of a thicker shaft of bamboo and secured with rattan, fibre and beeswax. Four thin lines are carved around the shaft where the shaving and wax begins.

Bamboo and wood spear. A narrow, concave head of bamboo is bound to a narrow wooden shaft with string and beeswax. The shaft has been carved into patterns highlighted with lime. This is inserted into a thicker shaft of bamboo, secured with rattan and beeswax. There are natural ruddy-brown striations along the shaft.

It is connected to narrow wooden shaft which has been dyed and narrowed slightly towards the join, which is inserted into a thicker bamboo shaft. Both joins are bound with rattan and beeswax. A number of thin lines have been scratched around the shaft at the butt. The bamboo’s nodules have been shaved smooth.
