The item search helps you look through the thousands of items on the RRN and find exactly what you’re after. We’ve split the search into two parts, Results, and Search Filters. You’re in the results section right now. You can still perform “Quick searches” from the menu bar, but if you’re new to the RRN, click the Search tab above and use the exploratory search.

A very long plain dark bow without string. The bow has a flattened oval appearance with one flat side in cross section (one side flat, one side convex.), tapering from the centre to the ends. There is a raised ridge around the bow at both ends. One end has a cassowary claw, which is now broken. The opposite has two woven sleeves, probably rattan, each 1 cm. wide. The flat side of the bow is coated with thick resinous substance, now flaking off.

From here, shaft continues to large paddle-shape whose squared tip has single flange around circumference and perforated hole through thickness. Museum label on end surface. Dark brown patina. Chipped on edges and at flare of shaft.
