Club2670/2 a-b

Round-headed club with intricately carved bands. There are bone inlays at the butt end of the shaft and the top of the head. There were four inlays around the sides of the head, but only one remains. The shaft is also intricately carved and has two areas where there were once inlay (now gone). The round inlay at the top (part b) is carved into many small points all around the perimeter.

Lace-Making Pillow524/4

Blue lace making pillow, fully set up for lace making, with work in progress. The pillow is square with rounded corners, tightly stuffed with grasses or straw, covered with blue linen textile. A parchment lace-making pattern is pinned into position on the pillow; there is a length of finished lace, the near end of which is still in process. Approximately 60 threads and bobbins are attached and approximately 125 steel pins hold the thread in position on the pattern. Twenty-one spare bobbins are held in a pocket on the right hand side. A triangular pin cushion holds extra pins.

A large Y-shaped antler piece which curves around at the other end which has a peg near the end. Metal nails go through the cross-section near the end which splits into a Y-shape. Braided sinew is loosely wrapped around the crevasse in between the Y-shape and around the opposite curved end tip. At the end of the braided sinew, there is a rounded bone piece with a curved metal hook.

Soul Catcher1100/1

Soul catcher made of a hollow tubular piece of bone with inlaid abalone. Each end of the tube flares slightly and is carved out in silhouette to represent the open mouth of a creature resembling a bear, wolf, or whale. Abalone shell is inlaid on one side of the faces at teeth, eyes, cheeks, ears and nostrils.

Sea lion shaped bowl with protruding head, rear flippers, and short tail. Sides have incised decoration of front flippers and two ovoid shapes. Eyes and tail have inlaid shells pieces; rim has inlaid pieces of bone(?); teeth are inset bone. Inside of mouth is painted(?) red.

Skinning Tool1003/3 a-b

Thick segment of bone with one end carved into a curved, ninety degree angle. A long leather cord is affixed to the other end, then tied around the middle and wrapped around the curved end. A leather strap is tied to the cord near the centre of the bone--the other end of the strap is looped around a drop-shaped metal piece. Part b is a flat, square piece of metal with a sharpened edge.

Trumpet Horn2663/11

Ritual trumpet known as kangling (རྐང་གླིང་།) made of hollow human shin bone or thigh bone wrapped with a cord and covered with a wax-like substance. The bell is of hammered copper with a brass trim. Bands of brass 2/3 in length above bell and at mouthpiece.

Elliptically shaped piece of leather with multiple holes cut through it. End of leather piece is tied to a long leather strip, upon which eight carved yellow-white and brown bone(?) segments are strung. The other end of the strip is tied to the looped end of a long metal needle-like object.
