Fertility Figure905/11

Made out of nuts in three parts covered with nine dangling strands of bone, possibly that of vertebrae, that have a conical bone at each end. The top is covered with strands of hide. There is a piece of hide underneath the bone strands, which are also decorated with a white, red, and white bead at the top and middle.

Pendant in the shape of bird with a forward protruding beak, upward protruding horns ? and sideways protruding wings and tail. One hole though each win from front to back and on hole through neck from side to side. Eyes are recessed; two horizontal incised lines between wings and tail.

Puppet Control Rod1374/7 a-b

Two horn rods for controlling the arms of a shadow puppet. The rods are slightly bowed. They are undecorated except for an area near the centre where they have a raised area containing four rings on part a and three rings on part b. Each rod has a small hole through one end.

Shadow Puppet1374/4

Partially decorated shadow puppet. Arms are articulated at shoulders and elbows with bone joints. Decorative cutouts are at hair, waist, skirt, hands, and feet. Black paint has been applied to the face; white paint has been applied to areas of the regalia; rest of surface has been painted yellow. Both sides of the puppet are painted yellow with white, only one side has black paint.

Shadow Puppet1374/27

Shadow puppet (wayang kulit) representing the character Durna. Two-dimensional figure of a man with one arm articulated at the shoulder and elbow; other arm is at his side. Man is wearing regalia shirt, skirt, pants, shoes, headdress, sword, and jewelry. The shirt is green with gold floral decorations; the skirt is in blues, greens, pink, white, and purples; pants are red with gold, diamond-shaped checkered designs; headdress is in same colours as skirt and goes from forehead down to shoulders; shawl goes over shoulder and down back to below waist; sword has animal head-shaped hilt and is in a black and gold scabbard; jewelry is one band at each ankle and wrist, one ring on each hand, a beaded necklace being held in stationary hand, and earrings; shoes are black with gold floral decoration and they resemble clogs. Articulated arm is controlled by a long horn rod that is attached to the hand; a second horn rod has been split down centre for most of its length and has the height of the set into it.

Two-dimensional figure of a man with articulated shoulders and elbows. The man's skin is painted gold; hair is painted black and has arc-shaped cutouts to resemble curly hair. He is wearing regalia at his waist, hands, ears, neck, and side of head; skirt is in greens, orange, pink, white, blues, yellow, and reds with cutouts for texture; rings are red; earrings are blue and white; necklace is in black ink; headdress goes from temples down neck and is in same colours as the skirt. The arms are controlled by long, horn rods that are attached at one end to the wrists; another horn rod is split down it centre for most of its length and has height of puppet set into it.

Drum2664/3 a-b

Double-sided drum made of tops of two human skulls(?) placed top to top with each opening covered with skin. Join is wrapped with blue cotton cloth and dark red wool, with cords of braided hide ending in knobs attached to each side. Hide strips partially covered in brown corduroy project from one side, ending in tassels in poor condition. Part b is a detached cord with metal-wrapped tassels.

Breast Cover2664/2

Chest cover made of bone plaques and beads, and turquoise glass beads strung on fabric cords ending with flat copper bells. Central plaques each have Buddha images. Some cords fastened with black wax seals. Iridescent turquoise beads above shoulders of upper Buddha.
