Two-tined fork with incised decorations along length of handle, on front and back. Design consists of a circle with a deeper circular indent in the centre, surrounded by dots; circle closer to end of fork. Long line extends from circle, towards tines, and ends in a split; chevrons run across length of line, pointing towards tines. Overall body of fork is slightly curved.
Dagger with a bone blade and packed mud face on top; bone is concave on front and convex on back. Face is made with black mud and has large rounded ears, a curved nose and open pouting mouth; mouth is outlined with red pigment(?). Eyes are inset cowrie shells; short, pointed bones stick out of nostrils with an additional curved bone protruding from left side of nose. Face is covered with small inset cowrie shells, with strokes and spots of white pigment throughout. Long cassowary feathers attached to top of head; small amount of grey fibre surrounds mouth.
Snuff mortar made of horn with incised motifs across surface. The body is naturally curved, with a circular opening tapering to a rounded base. Deep groove carved towards base; band of alternating triangles incised above. From opening to middle of body, groupings of incised dots decorate the exterior. Dots create linear and geometric motifs; all circles are filled in with black pigment(?).
Large slab of aged, brown whale bone (part a) used as a base for a hunting scene. A carved stone hunter (part b) stands in a partial crouch at one end, holding a bow and arrow made of antler and sinew, pointed toward a stone caribou (parts c-f) at the other end. The caribou has its legs folded, and has an arrow sticking out of a hole in its side, as well as removable antlers on top of its head. Both stone carvings are positioned on the whale bone base by small pegs (parts g-h); the peg holes are in the man's right foot, and the stomach of the animal. Unsigned.
Long knife (part a), whittling knife (part b) and scabbard (part c). Long knife has a deer horn hilt carved into the profile of a bird’s head. Hourglass-like designs and curvilinear motifs incised throughout. Protruding from the top of the bird’s head and the beak are sections of short black and red hair. Hole drilled through pronounced nostrils, for hanging or attachment purposes. Hilt grip covered with woven band of rattan. The blade is convex on one side, slightly concave on the other, and widens from the hilt. Tip is angled. The whittling knife has a small curved blade attached to a long, slightly curved handle. Blade end of hilt decorated with a wide band of braided metal. Blades of both knifes are secured to hilts with resin. The scabbard is composed of a wood sheath for the long knife and a bark sheath for the whittling knife. Wood sheath made of two pieces of wood bound together with rattan. Ties alternate between single dyed strands and thick decorative bands. Bands, woven with naturally coloured and dyed strands, consist of “X”-shaped designs, concentric circles and knots. Wood is painted dark red and has incised motifs, matching designs on long knife hilt, throughout. Bark sheath is undecorated and secured to wood sheath with plain rattan ties. Braided rattan carrying cord, with looped end, threaded through bark sheath.
Bone pipe with geometric and dot motifs carved along the exterior; designs darkened with charcoal. Lip and stem are oval-shaped, end widens into a triangle. Two bands, filled with dots, circle both openings. Dotted lines of connected diamonds decorate top and bottom of pipe.
Small bundle of six bone tools, held together with a sinew cord. Holes sinew is strung through are drilled near the top edge of all tools. Four tools have curved tops and pointed ends; other two are flat and have sloped tips. Pointed tools grouped together on left side of bundle, flat tools on right side.
Carved wooden figure depicting a standing woman. She is forward facing, with a flat body, thin arms and rounded legs. Her feet are circular and have incised lines along the front edges, imitating toes. She has a wide neck and long, oval-shaped face. Her eyebrows are pronounced and she has a thin nose, and straight mouth. Her eyes are circular and inlaid with bone and obsidian. There are incised lines across her head, imitating hair, that extend upward, into a large bun, protruding from the top of her head. Her long, oval-shaped ears are along the back sides of her head. Holes are drilled into the lobes. On her front, her breasts are carved in low relief. Her right arm is bent, with her hand resting below her left breast. Her left arm is parallel to her body, with her hand resting over her groin. On the back of the figure, her shoulder blades and buttocks are carved in low relief.
Carved wooden figure depicting a standing woman. Her head is shown in profile and is facing down. She has a long, oval-shaped face with pronounced eyebrows and lips, and a long, wide nose. Her eyes are circular and inlaid with bone and obsidian. There are incised lines across her head, imitating hair, that extend into two buns, protruding from the back of her head. The figure’s body is flat and curves towards the left. Legs have a curved front and flat back. Feet are circular and have incised lines along the front edges, imitating toes. Her right arm is bent with her hand resting on her stomach. Her left arm is parallel to her body, with her hand resting near her groin. On the back of the figure, her shoulder blades and buttocks are carved in low relief. She has a white string knotted around her neck. Inscription on the centre of her back, reading "Soquel 1909."
Wooden painted mask of a ram. Thin, tapering face with O-shaped mouth, long ears and curling horns. Semi-circle design on top centre of head, painted a dark black-brown. Circle is decorated with diagonal and vertical incisions. Two columns of squares carved in low relief down centre of semi-circle. Two thin columns of rectangles, carved in low relief, run down centre of face, in between the eyes. Eyes are narrow and vertical, with raised edges. Done in white. Face is painted dark maroon. Horns are done in dark brown-black with the curled ends made of sheep horn, painted white. Ears of ram, hanging down between the face and horns, flare outwards from the face and are made of sheep horn, painted white. Two oval-shaped nostrils are above the mouth, with raised edges. Areas around eyes, mouth, nostrils and entirety of horns are painted dark brown-black and have incised decorations across them. Mask has small hole for mouth. The back rim of the mask is unpainted and has two holes along the top for ties.
