Snuff Bottle692/2 a-b

Flat bottle with corked lid. Bottle is decorated with orange on white ground; floral decoration on the two flat faces; four Chinese characters on base. Lid is domed green jade with cork attached to underside; thin, long spoon is attached to end of cork.

Belt1128/3 a-b

Brown leather man's belt is decorated with two rows of white painted metal grommets along the length of the belt. Extra holes form an x-shape near the centre. A bone needle case, containing a sinew threaded needle attached to a fabric and leather strip, is tied to the belt with a 2-ply leather cord. There is an antler ring at the end of the needle case. Leather strips are attached to each end of the belt, one has a metal belt fastener and the other has a series of holes, the last three holes have metal grommets. There is a separate leather strip (b) attached to the end of the belt. Fastened with a narrow (1.6 cm) strap and silver buckle. A tool made from a hollow long-bone (presumably reindeer) is attached with a leather thong.

Curved bone handle and short, oxidized, curved blade affixed with two rivets on one side. Double carved lines outline the handle. Twenty-one circles with dotted centres carved on the handle.

A carved tusk handle with several long, bunched, brown feathers attached to it, with a band of fur. The handle has five shapes carved and painted on it, in black. Closest to the tip of the handle, in descending order are a bird, a sun, a dog, a polar bear, and a caribou.

Needle Case1353/3

A long, narrow object comprised of several parts. A long piece of bone resembling a bell clapper has four carved ribs and a loop at one end. Skin is tied to the loop and threaded through a tube-shaped section of bone. Two copper needles and a grey stone thimble are attached to the skin on the other side of the tube. A double-sided hook is tied to the end of the skin strip.

A quadrangular metal blade with a hole made midway. The blade is held in its holder with a metal nail. The holder has a hole drilled through the middle depth and another hole for the insertion of the shaft.
