Water pipe with two metal cylinder that have incised geometric design on lower portions. Attached to one of the cylinders is a short metal tube and a long metal tube. The longer of the two extends upwards and curves slightly at the end. A brown and black fibre tassel is attached to the end and hangs down when object is displayed upright.
Urn is in three parts: the urn (part a) has a band of stylized floral designs in relief around the top rim; lid (part b) has a round flared handle protruding from the centre; pedestal foot (part c) flares outwards at the top, tapers towards the middle and flares outwards again at the bottom and is decorated with a band of stylized floral designs in relief around the top and bottom rims, similar to the urn's top rim pattern (part a).
Long sword with handle that has an engraved plant motif pattern on each side. Sides of handle protrude slightly with scalloped points to create an overall T-shaped handle. End of handle is in the shape of a lobed finial and once had an inset panel on the end. The blade is long and flares slightly upwards.
Bowl with deep sides that curve at the bottom. There is an incised line around the inside of the rim.
Small pair of brass(?) cymbals with red cloth handles attached to raised centres.
Cantonese opera instruments. Pair of brass or bronze cymbals (bo) with black characters on the top and bottom; large characters on top, with smaller characters on the bottom. Cymbals are circular with raised semi-spherical centres with holes.
Dark purple robe with wide extended sleeves, side slits and side opening with ties. On the front and back is a square rank panel with lotus and wave motifs in silver on turquoise ground. The collar, sleeve, side and hem borders have fish, wave and peony motifs in silver, orange, pink on blue ground. There are tin reflectors and white fur on the front and back. The belt carriers have prunus and bird motifs in turquoise and blue on a mauve ground stiffened with paper, wood and adhesive. The inside lining is yellow linen.
Long turquoise vest. The vest has a centre opening with frog closures and embroidered ties. The collar border has prunus and butterfly motifs on an orange ground, with blue trim. On the front and back are crane, chrysanthemum, wave and pearl motifs on a turquoise ground. The border around the edges has a prunus motif on a turquoise ground with blue trim. The front hem is white cotton, rounded upwards and covered with small orange tassels. The tassels are formed around cores of rolled cardboard. There are tin reflectors, green glass eyes and white fur on the front and back. The inside lining is natural-coloured linen.
A headdress with a high vertical rounded front and flat top sloping downward to the back which is a shorter vertical band. Frame is of wire covered with intricately interlaced bands of black silk braid and fabric. Attached to the headdress with wires, there are highly perforated and layered gold-coloured brass roundels in the shape of flowers and leaves, all inlaid with various shades of bright blue kingfisher feathers outlined with metal. On and around them, there are many ornaments mounted on wires which include the following: bats made of pearls, flowers made of pink glass, gemstones inset in metal, green stone butterflies, and a large roundel of pink quartz. From the front of the headdress, there are suspended strands of pearls with coloured stone butterflies in the middle and stone drops at the end.
A small circular metal coin (part a), and a wood stand (part b). On one side of the coin (part a), there are eight trigrams in relief arranged in a circle while there are Chinese characters in relief on the other side. The stand (part b) has a semi-circular shape within which to fit the coin into the slot, and another slightly wider semi-circular shape to create two legs.
