Ecru robe with slender sleeves, hoof cuffs, front and back slits and side opening with brass buttons. Dragon, fish, bat, cloud, wave, peony motifs and longevity symbols on the front and back, in silver, pink, yellow, green, blue and purple on an ecru ground. Collar, sleeve and border bands have peony motifs in yellow, blue, green and purple on an ecru ground. The inside lining is natural-coloured linen.

Pouch with steel and flint. The top of the pouch has a small rectangular dangling hook. The bottom of the pouch has a flat convexly curved edge. There are four Chinese characters across the upper front of the pouch, which read "peace is happiness".

Ceremonial HeaddressN1.302

A headdress with a high vertical rounded front and flat top sloping downward to the back which is a shorter vertical band. Frame is of wire covered with intricately interlaced bands of black silk braid and fabric. Attached to the headdress with wires, there are convex gold-coloured brass plaques in the shape of flowers and leaves, all inlaid with iridescent bright blue, and darker blue-purple kingfisher feathers outlined with metal. The centres of the flowers are formed of circles of many wires with rounded ends, surrounding inset stones in blue, and green.

Cantonese Opera CapeN1.627

Light green cape with embroidery, wide collar and centre opening with frog closures and cotton tie. The collar has butterfly motif in silver on deep turquoise ground. The border has tree peony and chrysanthemum motifs and a silver symbol of distinction on light green ground. The front and back have large peacock, chrysanthemum and tree peony motifs on light green ground. There are mirrors and tin reflectors on the front and back. The inside lining is turquoise damask with a large floral pattern.

Pale mauve robe with wide extended sleeves, side slits, side opening and banded neck edge. Dragon, deer, chrysanthemum and wave motifs on the front and back in gold, blue and orange on pale mauve ground. Collar , sleeve and border bands with white flower motifs and multicoloured flower badges on medium blue ground. There are green glass eyes, tin reflectors and fur on the front and back. Belt carriers are crane, chrysanthemum and prunus motifs in pink, mauve and white on turquoise ground stiffened with wood, paper and glue. The inside lining is natural-coloured linen.

Necklace1590/283

A necklace of a large oval pendant and six smaller beavers separated by groupings of cylindrical glass beads, red beads with white centres, and red-and-white beads. The pendant and the beavers are strung with hide and wire. The arrangement of the beads between the beavers and between the pendant and the beavers on either side is one red-and-white, one red, four white, one red, one red-and-white. Pendant has an uneven raised edge and a central beaver figure. Above are a few branches, below and to the left of which are maker’s marks.
