Minature temple cast of white metal. Temple has concave gable roof imitating thatch, painted brown, with two u-shaped wire projections from peak; walls painted red/orange, with front pillars, surrounded by low fence; posts tipped with gold paint. On a rectangular base imitating stone, painted black and grey.
Ten identical small bells (parts a-j) of thin brass having each end flattened into ellipsoids. Each has a ridge around the mid-section joining two halves. There is a brass wire loop inserted at one end. The slit has a bean-shaped perforation at each end. Three bells (parts a-c) are strung on cords of twisted light red-pink silk. One bell (part d) is strung on a cord of twisted burgundy-red silk. Another bell (part e) is strung on a cord of twisted purple silk respectively. Two bells (parts f-g) are strung on cords of braided pink silk. Three bells (parts h-j) are strung on a flat cord of braided yellow silk. Each cord is approximately 4.5 cm. long (doubled).
Container (a) of silver-plated copper, with bronze cover (b) in which are inserted two birds (c-d). Container consists of irregularly shaped plate to one part of which is attached a vertical rim 1cm. high, enclosing a roughly triangular area. Cover is shaped like three rocks, with suggestion of waves around them; dark brown patina with gold coloured patches. Into holes in cover are inserted the legs of two birds made of shibuichi alloy, blue/grey colour. On underside of container are three Chinese characters 'Made by Maruyoshi'. Leg of bird (c) repaired with epoxy, December 13, 1977.
Snuff box with an elongated oval shape and a hinged lid. Inscribed with the Reformed Gregorian Calendar, which is represented by a table of numbers and months on both the lid and bottom of the base, and there are two figures depicted on either end on the lid as well as another figure on the bottom of the base.
Round, flat, brass plate with flat base and straight flared sides 2.4 cm high. Two concentric circles indented near centre of inner surface. Outer surface shiny; inner surface has dull patina; turning marks are visible.
Very shallow round brass bowl with flat base and straight, slightly flared sides. Single circle indented on inner surface at bottom, about 1.5cm. from edge. Outer surface shiny ; inner surface has rather dull patina. 4 faint characters are scratched on inside rear rim.
Cast brass male figure (part a) with loin cloth, conical hair or headdress, and necklace. Holding a detachable candle holder (parts b and c) in each hand. He is standing on a flat, oval base. In front of this figure is a holder and detachable ashtray (part d) with a bird-like head, and tail, and an engraved leaf design on the outer surface. All bright yellow metal.
Hollow brass gong cast in one piece with an open base and sloping sides rising to the raised top surface with a knob at the centre. Four holes on the hammered bottom edge are at right-angled intervals. Two holes on the edge of the sides and top have twisted red cord and tassels. There is a white sticker with '3 a' written on it on top of knob inside the gong. There is also a label with 'C. Hedemann' printed on it and the numbers '164' in white paint in centre of knob. A six or seven digit number is scratched on the object.
Coin, round, with a four-sided hole at the centre, a rim around the outer edge and a centre hole. The obverse has four characters, and the reverse has two characters. Guangxu tongbao (top-bottom-right-left) in Chinese characters on obverse; boo jiyen left-right (mintmark) in Manchu on reverse. Circle top reverse; straight area on rim top-left; rims not filed smooth; rim pits.
Blue velvet vest with gold embroidered trim and red lining. The gold braid embroidered trim is in curvilinear designs covering both sides of the front, with plain gold brocade outlining the armholes, neck and front opening. There are three brass hook and eye closures inside the front opening. The back, lining and front trim are red cotton.
