Fragment: Case3263/15

Opened out fragment of a tubular case. Golden brown textile worked over thin brown-black reeds. Four rows of designs across entire surface. Done in red, black, white, olive green and dark grey. First row has three small step designs with bordered squares inside them. Second row has a bird-like creature and other zoomorphic figures. Third and fourth rows have snake-like figures. Textile stitched to cream coloured fabric, secured to off-white matboard.

Fragment: Sling3263/67

Fragment of a sling. Consists of part of the cradle and part of the left handle. Portion of cradle is light brown and has a two-toed zoomorphic figure, outlined in dark brown with a light red interior. Tapering section, where cradle meets handle, has vertical stripes and a repeating triangle pattern. Stripes and pattern done in light brown, dark brown and light red. Handle splits in two where it meets the cradle before converging again and becoming a thick rectangle. Rectangle and split strands covered in concentric diamond pattern. Done in red, light brown and dark brown.

Fragment: Sling3263/66 a-b

Two fragments of a sling. Consists of cradle (part a) and section of one of the handles (part b). Cradle is light brown with a repeating pattern of a bird profile, on a plain background, done in geometric style. Pattern alternates between dark brown, light brown and light orange. Sides where the cradle would meet the handles are bordered with thin vertical stripes, done in dark brown and black. Handles extending from cradle and handle fragment (part b) are light brown and are wide flat braids. Have rows of black and red diamonds along them.

Two fragments of a band. First (part a) is much longer than the second (part b). Both are thin, rectangular in shape and dyed red. Dye fading to light orange throughout.

Fragment: Bag3263/79

Strapless bag. Rectangular in shape, gradually widening at the bottom. Body is light brown-white with black and red-brown striped border close to opening. Upper third is plain and bottom portion, trimmed with thicker black and brown stripes, is covered in brocade pattern of birds, zoomorphic figures and waves. Designs done in black and red-brown. Bottom edge bordered with wide black and brown stripes. Right and bottom sides stitched closed, left side folded closed.

Fragment: Strap3263/70

Fragment of a strap. Wider part of strap is rectangular-shaped, light brown and slim. Dark brown diamond pattern throughout rectangle. Right end of strap is missing. Left end is a light brown, thick braid with four multi-strand elements. Large tuft of brown hair(?) woven into braid, where it meets the rectangular portion. Hair(?) is most visible on the back side of the strap.

Fragment: Headband3263/68

Complete headband in the form of a sling. Cradle is dark yellow-brown with pattern of red diamonds in the centre, and red stripes where the cradle tapers towards the handles. Braided handles are light brown with dark brown diamonds and zigzags. End portions of the handles are more tightly braided and the pattern changes to dark brown chevrons.

Fragment of a sling. Cradle is light yellow-brown with a repeating pattern of a bird profile, on a plain background, done in geometric style. Pattern alternates between dark brown and light purple. Sides where the cradle meets the handles are bordered with thin light purple stripes and one thick dark brown band. Handles are tightly woven braids, done in light brown with dark brown diamond patterns. Ends of both handles are missing.

Fragment: Sling3263/63

Sling with two splits in cradle centre. Dark brown pyramids, with brown-red lines between them, on the top and bottom edges of the splits. Strand between the two splits have repeating rectangles of brown-red and dark brown, bordered in white. Tapering sections have vertical stripes, done in dark brown, white and yellow-brown. Handles are thick interlocking strands with vertical stripes of dark brown and white. Tight braids are attached at the end of the handles. Braids have a chevron pattern, done in dark brown and white.

Sling3263/60

Unfinished sling. Cradle is white and has a short split in the centre. Handles are solid braids. Sections of the handles closest to the cradle are white and have a black diamond pattern. Diamonds alternate between solid and outlines. Rest of handles are plain black braids. Left handle ends with unbraided black strands. Right handle ends with unbraided white strands.
