Bentwood Box1182/1 a-b

A rectangular wood box on a flat base with a lid (part a) that fits on top. The sides of the box and lid are painted with red and black stylized creatures. There are two carved faces on the either sides of the lid with black eyes and eyebrows and a red mouth. The base, top, and sides of the box are made of red cedar; the faces are carved of alder and inset into the cedar, held in place with small wooden dowels. While there may be commercial paints used on the outside, the inner part is painted with a mineral-based paint made of red ochre.

Mask685/3

Portrait mask. Light brown wooden human face mask, with a tuft of sheep's wool and two eagle feathers affixed to the centre of the forehead. Black elongated eyebrows run close to the mask's edge. An l-shaped band of blue paint runs down one side of the face and across the eyes and bridge of the nose. The bottom portion of the nose, the lips and chin are painted a red-brown colour; the same colour is applied in short, repeated strokes above both eyes.

Unfinished Basket1413/9 a-b

Two almost identical, started, but unfinished baskets. Basic light yellow-brown weave with circular lines of light green, and blue around the flat circular bottom, and horizontal rows of blue, and light green around the bottom sides of the baskets.

A small light brown cylindrical basket (part a) with a lid (part b). There are two brown and orange birds on opposite sides of the basket (part a) with wings outstretched and holding an arrow pointing counter-clock-wise with their feet. Two brown canoes are in between these birds on either sides. There are three horizontal rows of dark brown, yellow, and dark brown around the bottom of the basket (part a). The side of the basket tapers into an upright rim. The lid (part b) has a round red-brown knob at the top centre surrounded by a yellow, green, and red-brown sun-like circle with the same two birds on either sides. There are three horizontal rows of dark brown, yellow, and dark brown around the side of the lid (part b).

Basket1588/2 a-b

A light yellow-brown cylindrical basket (part a) covering a yellow metal can with a basketry lid (part b). The can states the following around the rim of its lid in black: "FOR OVER SEVENTY-FIVE YEARS THIS TRADE MARK HAS BEEN KNOWN THROUGHOUT CANADA AS THE SAFEST GUIDE TO RELIABLE TOBACCOS", with a rectangular trade mark in the centre stating the following: "W.C.MACDONALD INC. MANUFACTURERS OF FINE TOBACCOS. MONTREAL. TRADE MARK REGISTERED". The basket (part a) has a horizontal row of green around the top, and horizontal rows of green, brown, and green around the bottom. The side of the basket (part a) is decorated with various birds and geometric swirl designs. The side of the basket tapers into an upright rim. The lid (part b) is relatively flat with dark green and light green animals, and red and orange flying birds surrounded by a circle line of brown and green. The side of the lid (part b) has a horizontal row of green going around it.

Round basket with tall straight sides. Bottom is coil work. Sides are of wide bands of warp with thinner vertical strips woven around them. Outer surface has four equally spaced step patterns from bottom to top in red, brown, and darker brown.

The lid (part b) is slightly rounded and has a purple centre at the top from which emanates a purple, green, and red swirl design with five equally spaced blue-black birds around it. There are two horizontal rows of brown around the side of the lid (part b).

There are three sets of equally spaced blue-black parallelograms around the side, and three horizontal rows of brown, orange, and brown around the bottom of the basket (part a). The side of the basket tapers into an upright rim. The lid (part b) is flat and has a blue-black sunburst-like centre at the top outlined with a blue-black circle line with an alternating blue-black, and light yellow-brown circular row of parallelograms. Three horizontal rows of brown, orange, and brown go around the side of the lid (part b).

A flared round light brown basket (part a) with a lid (part b). There are three horizontal rows of purple, pink-red, and purple above and below the main design of animals around the sides of the basket (part a). The main design of animals consist of a small pink-red bird, a large purple bird with wings outstretched, a small pink bird, a small purple bird, a green and pink fish, a small purple bird, and a long purple animal. There is a horizontal row of purple around the bottom of the basket (part a). The side of the basket tapers into an upright rim. The slightly rounded lid (part b) has a tall purple circular knob at the top centre around which there is pink-red, purple, and green swirl design outlined with purple.
