Rectangular coiled storage basket with a foot and a fitted lid (part b). Looped handles (parts c and d) have broken off and are 19.5 cm. and 19 cm. long. Slat foundation on the bottom and the sides. Split stitching and geometric imbricated design in dark red-brown, black, and light yellow-brown: three vertical bands on each long side and two on each short end, all of which are in a key pattern in either red or black bordered by the opposite colour. Lid has beaded design in light yellow-brown around the rim with beading in black and dark red-brown on the top.

Dome-shaped basketry hat with small checker work plaited square at top, where warps are visible. This area is outlined with twining and then the warps are split into smaller pieces and double strand twining resumes, but as much finer work. There is a row of triple strand twining, after several rows, and then the warps are split again and two strand twining continues. The bottom rim is finished with a row of triple strand twining followed by four rows of double strand twining, and then another row of triple strand twining. There is a fitted hatband inside hat with a black shoelace sewn to it.

Coiled rectangular basket (a) with lid (b). Black and red cherry bark imbrication form geometric design which covers both basket and lid on all sides. Lid is attached to basket with three strips of hide on both sides. There are two handles for carrying at either end, as well as one on the front.

Wooden, carved bird mask with a very long straight beak. Beak has rounded end and movable lower mandible. Shredded cedar bark at top of head has five feathers, three brown and two white, and down. Twisted cedar bark nailed along upper rim, sides and lower, unraveled ends on either side of elongated rounded protuberance at base of beak; long bent brow above orange eye area which is curved and pointed at base of beak, pointed eyelid lines have red optic liners, circular pupil; u forms on temples; conical protruding nostrils have circular ends and u forms along length; black beak has series of u forms above and below red lip band; lower mandible is slightly longer than upper beak. Frontal bird face at base of lower mandible with black and white circular pupils in orange eye areas, black broad nostril nose with circle at centre for tip of beak, white band around red continuous lip band, bared teeth. Lower mandible attached to base of head by leather hinges that have been glued and stapled into place; operated by cord tied and passed through 2 metal 'eyes' on interior of beak, looped around a wooden ball and attached to the centre of a short stick; nylon line looped and tied through two holes at base of head. Signed 'Hok Hok Beau Dick 80.'

Tlingit Young WolfNb11.337

Small wolf mask with a long rounded snout pointed upwards. The lips and nose are painted red while the rest of the face and throat is green. The oval black eyes are painted in a natural coloured relief. A black band curves around framing the face. The ears are red and oval. Above the black band there is a natural coloured rim and a circlet of painted black and red oblong shapes. On the reverse ‘Tlingit Young Wolf' and ' J. David 80’ are printed.

Lid is attached to basket with two long hide thongs. Coiled rectangular lid fits over coiled rim. The lid is imbricated on the edge and beaded on top, in rows of red and light yellow-brown.
