BasketA7614

Small round pot-shaped coiled basket (with bifurcated stitches) with flange, and with lid, part (a). Watch-spring base and lid construction. Fully imbricated in cat-tail grass, with parallel vertical bands of connected triangles, in red, and in dark cherry bark. Fully imbricated base has four sets of parallel stripes in dark cherry bark from center to edge, one single band. Fully imbricated lid has dark cherry bark radiating lines, from center to edge.

Coiled basket (with bifurcated stitching) with full imbrication over entire surface of the basket. Design on attached lid is a circle with radiating lines in cherry bark. Pattern on body of basket is four vertical alternating key motif in red or dark cherry bark. Lid strung to basket.

Fully imbricated in cat-tail grass (?) and dark cherry bark pattern of vertical rows with half vertical band of checker pattern at side. Ends: same but with only 2 vertical bands and half checker pattern.

Bentwood box of cedar wood. The front and back of box have symmetrical distributive designs in black primary form lines and red secondary form lines. Two faint faded red ovoid forms on sides. Part (b) lid is plain and cracked through center.

Roughly cylindrical, light brown woven basket (a) with lid (b). Base: four rows of plaiting. Sides and lid: plain twined work with cedar root beading and embroidery. Two upper and two lower rows of beading in cedar root. Discrete sections (nine rows) of cedar root wrapped around twining; each section is separated by five vertical rows. Lid has same design. Handles on the lid are braided with an odd number of strands so as to form two solid, rounded handles which cross over each other.
